The show starts with Rachel Crow’s dramatic ouster.
We are told this week’s elimination will be based on America’s vote and the judges will not be able to save anyone. Tonight is the Pepsi Challenge and the contestants will perform what America wants to hear.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS: Nicole said Marcus is bringing sexy back and making all these girls excited. Paula said she can always count on Marcus giving 150% and said it was a solid performance. Simon said Marcus didn’t choose the song but he sang it well. Simon did not like LA’s staging with the zombie dancers which are very corny and distracting. He also didn’t like that Marcus didn’t change the song. L.A. said: It takes great taste to know great taste and that Marcus was fantastic.
Chris Rene sings Sugar Ray’s Fly.

Paula said Chris looks more like five million bucks and that his heart resonates with the world. Simon loved the choice of song, but said it wasn’t Chris’ best vocals yet. L.A. said Chris has the sparkle of a star and he should just keep doing what he is doing.
Melanie Amaro Sang Mariah Carey’s Hero
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: LA said it was really, really good but also called it predictable. He said his concern is that he didn’t feel her usual passion and love for the song. Nicole said she loved the song and it’s perfect and fitting for tonight. She also said Melanie has grown into the woman that she is. And she is inspiring to all. Simon said it wasn’t karaoke unlike Marcus and that’s how you put your stamp on it and make it original. He called in bloody fantastic.
Josh Krajcik sang Come Together by The Beatles

JUDGES’ COMMENTS: LA said he enjoyed that and it’s the best he’s seen of Josh in a few weeks. He also said he is one of the best in the competition. Paula said when Josh sings, he attacks our souls. She said, the industry isn’t just about selling records it’s also about people wanting to pay to watch one perform. Simon said he agrees with LA and Josh has come back. He called it an honest performance – it’s just you and a song. Nicole said she was in awe and what she loves about Josh is that he is never rehearsed. Said Josh is just living and breathing like that fire.

Marcus Canty sang Careless Whisper by Wham!
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: Nicole called the song unexpected but said she loved what Marcus did with it. Paula said Marcus did a really great job. Simon called it horrific. Said the song was wrong and called the performance grotesque. Said it was like being in a Vegas show in 1983. As if that weren’t bad enough, he said it was an absolute joke and he deserved better than that. LA said he thinks of Marcus as an underdog but that tonight he looked more like a champion.
Chris Rene sings No One by Alicia Keys
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: Nicole said Chris may not have the best voice in this competition, but it’s his spirit that makes us believe in him. Paula said she loves and embraces him and that hisconfidence and transformation are awe-inspiring.Simon said Chris delivered big time and that Chris’ dad would be incredibly proud. He also said Chris may be the dark horse in the competition. You got heart.” L.A. said he is very proud of Chris.
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: L.A. said it was a great song choice and she is the best woman that has ever graced this stage. Nicole said that was the Melanie Amaro freedom anthem. Paula said that Melanie is letting go and she feels her. Simon said this is why they brought this show to America and this was Melanie’s greatest performance of the show so far.
Josh Krajcik sang Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
JUDGES’ COMMENTS: LA said that lacked excitement for him and said his advice for Josh and the finals is to stop looking back and to look ahead to where he can go. Paula was crying and said Josh is the performer that opens up his heart and said he is the one to beat. She said he did a brilliant performance. Simon agreed with Paula. He said Josh came out with a great song, it was sincere and he thinks that song will put Josh into the finals. Nicole said that was like a beautiful prayer and that was a gift to all of us.
