OUCH! Be careful what you blurt out if you are an NBA star…The LA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was fined $100,000 Wednesday by the NBA for allegedly using an anti-gay slurin frustration over a referee’s call Tuesday night.Bryant was caught on TV calling referee Bennie Adams a “f**king f*ggot after Adams penalized Bryant with a technical foul during the third quarter of a victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
NBA Commissioner David Stern issued a disciplinary ruling with the fine stating “Kobe Bryant’s comment during last night’s game was offensive and inexcusable. While I’m fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated.”
Bryant said his outburst was the result of anger and should not be taken literally. Per TMZ, Bryant has apologized and stated, “The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”
