Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested and briefly jailed early Friday morning in Atlanta. The charges? Disorderly conduct and DUI, respectively. Above Photo? Mugshots of Reese and Jim.

So, what in the world happened? Per the police report, Jim was driving a car with Reese riding in as a passenger. The cops pulled them over for suspicion that Jim was driving while intoxicated. While police questioned Jim outside of the vehicle, Reese would not remain quiet or inside the vehicle as instructed by the police. So, she was also handcuffed and arrested.

Witherspoon is in Atlanta filming “The Good Lie.” She was charged with interfering with officer J. Pyland’s arrest of her husband.

“Mrs. Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer,” Pyland wrote in his report. “I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet.” Witherspoon then allegedly got out of the Ford Fusion.

“I put my hands on Mrs. Witherspoon’s arms to arrest her,” Pyland wrote. “Mrs. Witherspoon was resistant but I was able to put handcuffs on her without incident due to Mr. Toth calming her.”

The report also states that “Mrs. Witherspoon asked, ‘Do you know my name?’ I answered, ‘No, I don’t need to know your name.’ I then added, ‘Right now.’ Mrs. Witherspoon stated, ‘You’re about to find out who I am’.” The Academy Award winner allegedly told the officer, “You are going to be on national news.”

The couple was taken to jail but released on bond around 3:30 a.m. Friday. They are to appear in court Monday at 8 a.m.
