Lauryn Hill has pleaded guilty to the federal crime of tax evasion, admitting she did not file several years’ worth of tax returns.
The 37-year-old singer of The Fugees faces up to three years in prison and a $75,000 fine as a result of failing to file returns for the years 2005, 2006, and 2007, when she earned more than $1.8 million.
When the judge asked her if she “intentionally and willingly” failed to file the returns, Hill simply replied, “Yes.” She was booked and released on a $150,000 bail.
