Whether or not you’re a fan of Ed Sheeran‘s music, what this 23-year-old musician did is just simply gonna melt your heart. Sheeran recently heard about a 15-year-old girl named Triona Priestley who was battling cystic fibrosis. And he sprung to action, calling the dying teenager, singing his song “Little Bird” to her just minutes before she passed away.
This last minute act of kindness came about after a Twitter campaign called #SongForTri went viral. Ed saw the hashtag and the rest is serenade history.
Triona‘s brother Colm told The Telegraph: “Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign.” He added, “What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together. Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards. So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep.”
“Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x.” Ed wrote on his Twitter account.
