I had a bad feeling this would happen. After the highly-publicized cheating scandal which involved actress Kristen Stewart and Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, it is Stewart who is the one left wearing the scarlet letter and out of a jobwhile Rupert seemingly gets to keep his.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the unmarried Kristen Stewart will be written out of the planned SWATH sequel which originally was going to focus on her character but the married Sanders will probably still direct the sequel which will now be a spin-off centering upon Chris Hemsworth’s character.
Ya, that’s really fair.
And with that move, Hollywood proves once again that it too promotes a double standard when it comes to how males and females are treated in the work force. Look, I’m not condoning cheating. I’m just saying if punishment is going to be doled out in such situations, then it should be dished out equally.
OK, I will now jump off my soap box.
A Universal spokeswoman confirmed they “are exploring our options to continue the franchise,” but did add that “no decision has been made.”
What do you all think? Should the SWATH franchise continue? Should Rupert remain as its director? Is this all fair?
Rupert is the one who should be held accountable he is married with kids. Kristen is single and only 22, which one of us hasn’t made a mistake at that age or any age? The star is the box office draw NOT the director. Can we say Rupert who?
It’s not fair that she was dropped from any future sequel that may be filmed. What happened wasn’t solely her fault he was involved as well. If anyone should go it should be him. What happens in an actors personal life is separate from their professional life even if it did involve someone such as him. She should be allowed to continue on, while he can go on to do something that doesn’t involve Kristen. What a shame that she won’t be a sequel.
