The couple released this statement to People:

“We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together. We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now.”Gokey’s first wife, Sophia, passed away in 2008 following surgery for congenital heart disease. Instead of wedding gifts, the couple have asked for donations to be sent to a charity started by Danny and Leyicet in Sophia’s name.
