Adele Makes Billboard History: Wins All Top Awards For 2011

Adele has been named Billboard’s top artist of 2011. She also won the honors for top album (21) and top single (Rolling in the Deep) of the year, making her the first female to win all three honors in one year.

Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Bruno Mars rounded out the top ten artists of 2011. The mag attributes Adele’s “raw talent” and “amazing voice” as reasons for her win.

Explaining what makes Adele stand out from so many others in the music scene, Tye Comer, editor of Billboard.com, said: ‘Her success is really inspiring because it shows that there is still room in the music industry for an artist to make it with true, raw talent.

‘It’s not necessarily always about the outrageous outfits or flashy videos, but an amazing voice coupled with the right song still has the ability to turn the ears of millions of people and keep them interested.’

I couldn’t agree more!  CONGRATS beautiful Adele!

Adele Cancels All 2011 Concerts, Will Undergo Throat Surgery

It’s been a long year for Adele who has been hit with a series of canceled tour dates and increasing bouts of  laryngitis.

But her year just got longer.

Her record company announced with “deep regret” this morning that Adele has canceled all of the remaining concert dates and all other promotional appearances for the rest of the year.

“She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected,” the record company said. “As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”

The record company did not reveal when the surgery will take place, or when Adele would return to the stage; all we can do is pray that the 23-year-old crooner will fully recover.

Eminem Sets Digital Album Sales Record

A big congratulations goes out to Eminem who has become the first recording artist to sell a million digital copies of a single full album!

About the success in sales of Eminem’s Recovery, Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, said in a statement:

“Over the years, we’ve made a concerted effort to engage Em’s online fan base, so this achievement is especially rewarding.”

Recovery features the major hits Love The Way You Lie with Rihanna and Not Afraid.

Adele will next join Eminem in celebrating this milestone since her sophomore release, 21, is at 992,000 digital copies sold in just 19 weeks. Lady Gaga is also very close to reaching the same milestone, with more than 900,000 digital sales (and counting) of her 2008 release, The Fame.

What’s the best single track of all time? The Black Eyed Peas’ I Got A Feeling has sold seven+ million downloads.

Adele Must Stop Singing And Speaking For A Month To Save Her Voice

Grammy award winning singer and songwriter Adele has been ordered by doctors to stop singing and speaking for at least a month so she can heal from acute laryngitis – or risk damaging her voice permanently.

The singer was forced to cancel her North American tour earlier this month and it seems that things have not yet improved.

Adele is a smoker and that may be the problem and she apparently cannot kick the habit.
Adele is currently at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a sixth week with Rolling in the Deep.

She wrote on her website: “I’m really frustrated. I was hoping with a week’s rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry.”

Adele has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard, so, I, along with millions of other fans, all hope that she gets the rest she needs.
