American Idolhopeful, 17-year old Courtney Penry of Missouri City, Texas wants to be Julianne Hough.
Well, maybe not exactly, but she wants something lady Hough has: “Ryan Seacrest will be mine someday. You know you love me,” she said during the show’s auditions in Austin, Texas. She continued, “Because I love you and I’ve loved you forever.”
Watch Courtney’s eternal pledge of love for yourself:
Ya ya, he’s quirky. So what if he’s blatantly hitting on some of the female contestants? Yes, he uncontrollably breaks into song at any given moment. And, yep, I caught him scolding veteran judge, Randy Jackson and telling him not to tell contestants they sing badly when they really really do sound awful.
All that aside, and maybe because of all of that, he is still the breath of fresh air this show needed at its most desperate hour.
So, when Idol started its Austin, Texas auditions show Wednesday night with an “apology” for Steven Tyler’s “outrageous” behavior, I was like, huh? What for? Who complained? No one ever apologized for Simon Cowell!
Then, Idol rolled the video clip. And the joke was on us.
American Idol, you are back you wacky favorite show of mine!
Did you guys catch Chicago native Chris Medina on American Idol last night? If not, you must watch this incredibly heart-warming video clip.
Medina has a sweet soulful voice but that’s not the most endearing thing about this Idol hopeful.
What warmed our hearts was the touching story of his love and support for his fiancee Juliana who accompanied him to his audition.
Juliana was involved in a horrific automobile accident in October of 2009 and remained in a coma for more than a month before awakening with brain damage. But Medina stood by his fiancee’s side the entire time even though the doctors has told him she would never wake up from the coma.
American Idol has released its first promo video clip for Season 10 and by the looks of it, they’re trying to make us nostalgic for the show’s gone by and most likely possibly better days.
The video takes us back to the first -time auditions of all nine of the show’s crown winners including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Kris Allen, Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks and Fantasia Barrino. I guess I could also mention Taylor Hicks and Lee DeWyze since I mentioned everyone else.
Does this promo video make you miss American Idol? Does it do enough to make all of the old faithful to want to tune in? Who is actually excited for this new season and chapter in the long-successful reality show? Tell me, tell me!
There is a first time for everything. In celebration of American Idol‘s 10-year anniversary, Idol has partnered with MySpace to allow aspiring singers the opportunity to audition online for the first time in Idol history.
Want to give it a try? Audition videos can be uploaded to MySpace’s American Idol page until October 6.
Submitted videos must be a Capella and be chosen from an approved list.
Videos are limited to 40 seconds in length. A select few will move forward from these online auditions to the callback round in Los Angeles.
And poor Ryan Seacrest’s lonely American Idol auditions continue, this time with a stop in Austin, Texas.
Ryan takes a moment in this craziness and answers reporters’ questions, including whether Jennifer Lopez has been taken out of the running as a judge on Idol.
Next stop on the tour is San Fransisco, CA, the city where Adam Lambert was discovered.
Even Ryan Seacrest has no idea who will be on the American Idol judging panel come Season 10 but says the judges will be in panel by mid-September.
A few days ago, we reported the rumor buzz that Kara DioGuardi has been fired by the show’s producers. If that rumor is in fact true, this would leave Randy Jackson as the only Idol judge possibly returning next year, leaving 2-3 seats yet to be filled by new judges depending on whether Idol continues with a 3 or 4-judge panel.
Since auditions for Season 10 have already started, we also voiced the question: Who the heck is judging the early round of auditions? Well, Ryan answers that question in the video below taken from auditions held yesterday in New Jersey.
In the video, one reporter asked another questions which many of us want answered: “How will Idol replace the distinct personality Simon Cowell brought to the show.
Seacrest is seen responding: “You can’t replace it. You just go in a different direction.”
Second stop on the American Idol auditions, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Simon Cowell’s empty judge’s seat has not yet been filled, though rumors narrow the search down to Chris Isaak, Harry Connick, Jr., and Donald Trump. Yes, The Donald. Sadly, Bret Michaels no longer seems to be in the running, though, one just never knows when it comes to Hollywood.
This makes me wonder how they can start the auditions when they don’t yet have all the judges in place. But, I guess the show must go on.
In the video below, Ryan Seacrest runs us through some of the behind the scenes of what the auditions in Milwaukee look like. I admit, I am getting a bit excited again for Idol’sreturn. I didn’t think that could ever happen with the lackluster talent of last season and with Cowell’s departure since. But I think I forgot how much of an Idol nerd I really am. I am sure I will be the last one left standing in the fan pit as they one day turn out the lights on my favorite show.
The remaining American Idol auditions will be held as follows:
