VIDEO: Former Idol Lauren Alaina Flubs National Anthem

“It’s all about how you finish,” said announcer Joe Buck during the Thanksgiving NFL game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.

And no, Buck was not talking about the Packers winning despite a sluggish first half. He was talking about American Idol season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina who flubbed while singing the National Anthem at the start of her performance but who finished strong on an extremely powerful note.

During her rendition of The Star-Spangled BannerAlaina went totally silent after singing “What so proudly we hailed, through the twi…” Yet, somehow, she gathered herself and finished the song, picking up at “Whose broad stripes and bright stars…,” never looking back. She finished by flashing her famous smile as millions watched around the world.

Alaina was not the only Idol from her season who had a rough day in front of a live televised audience on Thanksgiving Day. Season 10 Idol winner Scotty McCreery was also caught on camera making a mistake – He started way too late on a lip-synced song during Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Watch Lauren’s performance below:

SPOTTED: American Idol season 9 winner, Lee DeWyze, and his fiance, Jonna Walsh, shopping in Hollywood, CA.

Lee met Walsh last October while shooting a video for his single Sweet Serendipity. “We were casting and I saw her and said, ‘Let’s go with her.’ I thought she was cute.” Guess that’s the best kind of sweet serendipity there could be.

DeWyze, who got engaged to Walsh in July after dating 8 months, spoke of their first date: “We hung out and we went to a Lakers game on our first date. She’s a Lakers fan and I’m a Chicago Bulls fan and we just clicked out of the gate.”

Lee and Walsh took time taking pics with the fans gathered around them while shopping and Lee still had his sexy humbleness which helped us all fall in love with him in the first place.

American Idol’s Crystal Bowersox Drops Her Record Label

American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox has split from her record label, RCA/Jive, and will release her next album with another.

This break-up came despite the fact that her debut album, Farmer’s Daughtersold 210,000 copies, out-performing the 146,000 units sold by champion Lee DeWyze‘s debut CD.

“I’m not worried about where I’m gonna be,” Bowersox told TV Line. “I’m gonna be making music if it’s on my own label or if it’s with somebody else. I’d love to work with ATO, Dave Matthews’ label. We’ll see what happens.”

Bowersox, who is one of the least mainstream outputs of Idol, says, “For not having any radio play and any great promotion, I think I’ve done pretty well on sales.” She adds, “I’m able to provide a good, comfortable life for my family, and that’s what I wanted out of it… I continue to do this for a living. There’s nothing better.”

Bowersox will also be wetting her toes on a TV show not named Idol: Look for her next week, guest starring on ABC’s Body of Proof.

The couple recently met at the premiere of Little Red Riding Hood in March when Idol finalists were treated to a night on the red carpet. Nikki approached McDonald to tell him she loved his performances on Idol, “You’re amazing,” she gushed, “I’m blushing! I should go.” And, that’s all she wrote…

Simon Cowell: “I Will Give All My Money Away To Charity..Once I Die.”

Simon Cowell is gearing up for the premiere of his latest US show, The X Factor, coming in the fall. But for now, he’s telling GQ about his excitement over this new show and the boredom he experienced on American Idol.

About his new show, Cowell says he wants to “supersize” everything. About his old show, he says, “I was bored. But at the same time I had a deal with Fox, and you’ve got to do what you’ve been paid to do.”

Simon also says: “The first two or three years on Idol, I had a blast. And then, as it got more and more successful, I didn’t want to do it anymore. I just felt I was there being paid to do a role, and after a while that’s not very satisfying. So it was hard work the last couple of years. I wanted to do [The X Factor].”

So, Simon stayed on much longer than he wanted to, and kept amassing millions and millions of dollars for the gig. But before you call him greedy, at least he has great plans for the money once he dies.

“One of the good things about making money is that you can help other people,” Simon said while also saying that once he dies, he will “leave the whole lot to charity… You can enjoy it while you’ve got it, and then it’s gone to good causes afterwards.”

Ryan Seacrest took to Twitter to celebrate the entire Season 10 American Idol cast being back together after Jennifer Lopez signed the deal to rejoin for season 11.

Ryan sent this pic via Twitter of him having lunch during the Savannah, GA auditions with judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and JLo along with this caption:
“First lunch w/the crew for @americanidol season 11.”

Jennifer Lopez Gets How Much For Her Second Season On Idol?

We already knew that Jennifer Lopez would be back on the judges’ table on American Idol for one more year, we just didn’t know how much it was going to cost Fox.

Well. Now we know.
Fox will be shelling out $20 million to have JLo sit next to Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson for the show’s 11th season.

Before inking the deal, producers pushed Lopez for a multi-year contract like the one Steven Tyler has but Lopez would only sign for one year. Fox is willing to give Lopez an $8 million raise over her first year because ratings for the last season of Idol were stronger than they had been in a while with a lot of the credit going to Tyler and Lopez.

Executive Producer Simon Fuller said, “Having both Jennifer and Steven return to ‘Idol’ in 2012 alongside Randy is such a positive reflection on what was a wonderful and hugely successful season last year, and everyone is delighted.”
