Season seven American Idol winner David Cook performed a cover of the 1985 song by Simple Minds, Don’t You (Forget About Me) at the American Idol season ten finale Tuesday May 24, 2011. The song has also been the boot song once the contestants were voted off all season.

Cook’s new album, This Loud Morning, will hit the stores June 28 with his first single being The Last Goodbye. Below are some pictures of Cook from his recent visit to the set of Extra at The Grove in Los Angeles for an interview with Renee Bargh.

Videos: Lauren Alaina Performs On American Idol Finale With Injured Vocal Chords

The youngest American Idol match up took place Tuesday May 24 when 16-year old Lauren Alaina and 17-year old Scotty McCreery went country head-to-country head for the Idol crown.
Lauren blew out her vocal chords during rehearsals today but after the coaches drugged her up, she said she was ready to sing. Scotty won the coin toss and like the gentleman that he is, he deferred to Lauren. Lauren chose to go second.
Favorite Song of the Season Round:

Lauren chose to re-sing Flat on the Floor. Her voice did not sound any worse for the wear. She strutted down the stairs confidently shaking her hips and was full of sass. Watch her performance video below:

Celebrity Pick Round:
Lauren’s personal idol, Carrie Underwood, picked Maybe It Was Memphis for Lauren to sing. Carrie picked a great song for Lauren to showcase her voice. Watch her performance video below:

Finalists’ Singles Round:
Should Lauren win, her first single will be Like My Mother Does. During the performance, Ryan Seacrest escorted Alaina to her mother in the audience. The performance received a huge standing ovation from the audience and I am sure it will pull at the heartstrings of every mother watching at home to vote for Lauren. Watch her performance video below:

Videos: Scotty McCreery Performances On American Idol Finale

The youngest American Idol match up took place Tuesday May 24 when 16-year old Lauren Alaina and 17-year old Scotty McCreery went head-to-head for the Idol crown.

Scotty won the coin toss and like the gentleman that he is, he deferred to Lauren. Lauren chose to go second. So, Scotty opened the competition and sang Gone to represent his favorite song of the season.

Favorite Song of the Season Round:

Scotty worked the crowd like a seasoned pro on his replay rendition of Gone, starting his performance in the aisle and high-fiving the audience as he walked towards the stage.

Celebrity Pick Round:
Scotty’s personal idol, George Strait, picked Check Yes or No for Scotty and Scotty nailed it like every other sing he’s sang this season.

Finalists’ Singles Round:

Should Scotty win, his first single will be Love You This Big.  Jimmy Iovine introduced McCreery’s single, praising his confidence.  As usual, the Idol’s first single does not suit the contestant’s voice.
