Video: Yes, James Durbin, I Will Still You Love You Tomorrow!

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

I think I just found my personal next American Idol after watching James Durbin perform Carole King’s Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

Every Idol top 10 contestant has been sooooo good this year, I haven’t been able to pinpoint my favorite. I liked them all equally.

Until tonight.

When Durbin stole my heart.

AND YES JAMES, I will definitely still love you tomorrow.

Steven Tyler did not disappoint: “That’s the first song I ever made out to a girl with…Oh ya, I was in a bowling alley and no, Randy, I did not strike out!”

J.Lo gushed like I did. “I thought from the begining it was magical, totally magical. You are gonna be the star of the night with that one. James has had a strong week every week. We talk about consistency and that’s what’s gonna win it.”

Randy Jackson went a step further: “Tonight you weren’t just a great rock singer. Tonight you proved you are a great singer. That was not only the performance of the night, this guy just might win the whole thing.” And with that said, Randy rushed the stage and hugged Durbin!

Randy Jackson: “It feels like this song was written for you. It took me back to New Orleans.”

Steven Tyler: “You made my scalp itch it was so good.”

J-Lo: “I’d love to see you loosen up physically.”

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

American Idol‘s Pia Toscano performed I’ll Stand By You on Dancing with the Stars April 26 while boyfriend Mark Ballas and Karina Smirnoff danced to the song.

Tom Bergeron asked Pia if Mark is “a good kisser?” Pia answered coyly, “He’s a wonderful person!”

American Idol 4/21: Who Was Voted Off?

Spoiler Alert. On April 21 American Idol results show, Stefano, Haley and Jacob were in the bottom three after 52 million votes were cast.

The bottom 2 were Jacob and Stefano.

When it was all over, it was Stefano Langone who was sent home and eliminated off of Idol.

What do you think of these results? Did the right person go home? Did America get the bottom three right?

Video: Casey Abrams Steals A Kiss Off Jennifer Lopez

Casey Abrams finished his performance Wednesday night on American Idol by kissing Jennifer Lopez on the cheek. Steven Tyler squirmed: “Casey! You did what I have been trying to do for four months!” Casey looked proud of himself and Jennifer said, “Casey is not playing fair…Casey got soft lips!”

Casey sang Maroon 5’s Harder to Breathe! And both him and Jennifer had a hard time breathing after that surprise kiss!

J.Lo said, “I Loved it! The performance! The performance! The performance was great. You brought all your Casey’isms to it. You took a pop song and took it all the way rock. It was really great.”

Randy Jackson wasn’t kissed but gushed over Casey anyway: “What I love about Casey is that it’s always surprise, surprise, surprise. I enjoyed it….I loved that you came here and kissed[ J.Lo.]. Amazing job. Keep taking chances, I love it. I can’t wait to see what you do every time.”

Steven Tyler forgot Idol is a family show and called Casey a “cult hero” and said there are “millions of people in America that are really angry because you piss them off you’re so fucking good. You’ve changed so many fucking people’s minds. You’re that kind of artist. I gotta tell you, I love you man.” Of course the F bombs were muted by Fox, but you could read Steven’s lips clear as day. Funny thing, Steven did not even realize what he had done, until Randy told him. “Darn good!” corrected Randy.  Me: I LOVE YOU STEVEN!

Video: James Durbin Finds His Muse

American Idol top 7 performed Wednesday night and one of the clear standouts was James Durbin who sang Muse’ Uprising.

Even though Durbin was the second performer of the night and five more Idols had yet to take the stage at that point, Jennifer Lopez said she’s gonna go out on a limb and declared that Durbin’s performance was “going to be theatrically the best performance of the night.” She continued, “Wow, that was amazing. I think that was the highest we have heard you sing on the show. Or anyone else.”

Randy Jackson agreed. “Dude, you were unbelievable out there.” Like J.Lo, Randy also went out on a limb and declared, “I think this is going to be the best performance of the night.”

Steven Tyler told Durbin to stay out of his closet. “Mad Max meets Storm Troopers on Melrose. You’d be surprised how expensive it costs to look this cheap. That was crazy good…I love that you are out of your mind, beautifully so.”

Pia Toscano To Perform On Dancing With The Stars With “Good Friend” Mark Ballas

Tom Bergeron confirmed on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night that recent  American Idol castoff Pia Toscano will be performing next week on DWTS. That’s pretty big news considering she’s rumored to be dating DWTS‘ very own Mark Ballas.

Toscano will also be appearing on Wednesday’s live Idol show for a special cast-off reunion. I was wondering how Idol was going to work Toscano back into the show after her shocking ouster with no saves left to get the judges’ favorite back in. Looks like they found their way. Wonder who else will be in this reunion.
Rumor also has it that it was fellow DWTS contestant Chris Jericho who got Toscano and Ballas together by getting the two to exchange phone numbers. Ballas will be dancing during Toscano’s gig next week (with Karina Smirnoff) – so, stay tuned. Things could get real hot. Real fast.

Video: James Durbin Fights The Good Fight For Rock N Roll

April 13 – There were a couple of standout performances on American Idol Wednesday night, one of which was James Durbin’s rendition of Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar to close out the show.

Durbin made Idol history earlier this season when he sang the first-ever Judas Priest song on the show (You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’). On Wednesday’s performance night, he fought the good fight for rock and roll once again and went against the recommendations of mentors Jimmy Iovine and wil.i.am to perform Sammy Hagar’s hard metal tune. Durbin pleaded, “Give metal a chance!” in the preview package which aired before his performance.

As an extra treat for us heavy metal fans, legendary Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde joined Durbin on stage and strung his heart out.

Jennifer Lopez stole Randy Jackson’s line, saying, “Yo! Yo! Give it up give it up! That felt really really real.” She continued, “I really loved that. I don’t know what these are sounding like at home but here they are killing it dead in here.” She asked, “Who would have ever thought that on Idol we would have heavy metal?”

Randy had to come up with a new sound bit real quick: “My God, you guys were just at a James Durbin concert. And at a Zakk Wylde concert. I’m happy you stuck to your guns….I can see you on stage with Ozzy at the next Ozzfest! Durbin rocks!

Steven Tyler of course loved it. “Outstanding Durbin. I’m glad you went with your feelings. … Nice lip to Jimmy, man.”

Video: Casey Abrams: Was He Amazing Or Did He Fall Flat On His Face?

I’ve said it once, and I will say it again. American Idol contestants sound much different when you hear them sing live on the Fox studio set than they do when we watch them on TV at home. They usually sound much better in person.

Case in point or shall I say Casey in point: I am a HUGE Casey Abrams fan. HUGE! However, his rendition of Nat King Cole’s Nature Boy just fell flat with me during Idol‘s Wednesday performance night.

Then again, I was watching it at home this week like most of America. Were you surprised to see the studio audience go absolutely wild for Casey’s rendition? If you were, it’s the live vs. TV factor differential.

The judges went nuts over Casey as well with all three joining the standing crowd to give Casey a unanimous standing ovation. Jennifer Lopez, the just-named world’s most beautiful woman, said Abrams brought “a special thing to music.” Randy Jackson said Casey gave a “Grammy-type performance…I thought it was brilliant. I thought it was absolutely genius.” Steven Tyler said Casey is an “artist in the truest sense of the word.” He compared him to Sting and told Casey “You took a song that my momma sang to me when I was a little boy and you took it and you did what’s in your heart regardless of what Jimmy told you.”

Casey picked the Nat King Cole classic despite Jimmy Iovine’s advice in rehearsals to choose something that could make him win like Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight. Did he make the right choice or will this song selection cost him a shot at the Idol crown? Did you enjoy it at home and call in a vote in for him or were you shocked by the adulation you witnessed on TV?

What did you think of Casey’s performance?  Watch it for yourself and let me know! In this video, you can also hear Casey speak about his favorite Gnocchi and meatballs dish at Cafe Aroma!
