Glee’s Cory Monteith Fighting With Show Creators?

Glee‘s Cory Monteith reportedly feels overworked and underpaid and is allegedly fighting the good fight against the show’s creators on behalf of the whole cast.

According to New York Post, the 29-year-old actor who plays Finn Hudson in Fox’ mega-hit musical comedy series, is butting heads with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, over the cast’s work schedule and earnings from Glee CDs, tours, and the show itself.

“Cory was the show’s golden boy but has most recently been the most vocal member of the cast complaining. He feels they are being overworked. They were filming and toured without any time to recover,” according to sources.

“He’s become a de facto leader complaining to Ryan Murphy [for the cast], who they feel should give them a bigger share of the show’s success. But Ryan thinks Cory is causing trouble.” Continue reading

Lea Michele, Cory Monteith & Chris Colfer Not Leaving Glee?!?

So, are they staying or going?
The upcoming class of seniors on Glee were given their public goodbye papers last week. At least, that’s what we were told.
However, the show’s executive producer, Brad Falchuk, was singing a different tune Sunday at Comic-Con.
“Here’s the exact thing: [Rachel, Kurt and Finn] are seniors, so they’re graduating,” he said. “But because they’re graduating doesn’t mean they’re leaving the show. If you have Lea Michele under contract, you don’t say, ‘We’re gonna let you go.'”
OK–color me confused since that is in complete contradiction of what Murphy had told the press less than two weeks ago.
Those characters “are not going to be back at all for Season 4,” he had said. “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
OK–so, your guess on who will stay past next season is as good as anyone else’s.
There seems to be some agreement on the fate of Chord Overstreet. “We wanted him back because we like Chord personally and had some good stories planned for him and with Mercedes,” Falchuk  said. “He decided he would have opportunities elsewhere that he would like to pursue, and we can’t force him to work, so we wished him well.”

Glee Cast Shocker: Which 3 Starters Leaving The Show?

In an expected but still shocking revelation, Glee Creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that three Glee starters will not be coming back to the show for season 4.

Citing integrity of the show and a wish to stay “true to life,” Murphy told The Holywood Reporter that Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) will all graduate after season three and not return to the show “at all” after that.

“We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea,” Murphy said, adding he has yet to talk to Monteith. “They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.”

Cory Monteith Opens Up About His Past: “I’m No Finn Hudson”

Cory Monteith plays an innocent, lovable, sweet character on Glee, but Monteith admits that his past in real life is a far cry from his TV persona.

Monteith opened up to PARADE MAGAZINE: “I’m not Finn Hudson. I burned a lot of bridges, I was out of control. I’m lucky to be alive.”

In the article, the 29-year old actor gave much detail about his “serious” drug problem which involved “anything and everything, as much as possible.”

It all started when his parents got divorced when he was 7. He started skipping school, getting drunk and smoking pot at the age of 13. Monteith finally dropped out when 16, after attending 12 different schools. At 19, things had gotten so bad, his mother and friends organized an intervention.

“That’s when I first went to rehab,” but like others like him, his first stint at rehab was not enough to change his habits permanently. He had to hit rock bottom first to start to change, an experience he calls “the crystallizing event.”

“I stole a significant amount of money from a family member,” he admits. “I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn’t care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, ‘Yeah, it was me.’ It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years.”

The family member told Monteith to clean up his act or he would be reported to the police. So, with those two options facing him, he moved in with a friend and was able to kick his drug habit. He then started a job a roofer and started acting.

“I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too. But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it. If I can, anyone can.”

VIDEO: Gwyneth Paltrow Surprises Glee Live! Concert Goers & Performs On Stage

You never know what will happen or who will show up at a Glee Live! concert stop. Take Thursday night’s show in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for example. The crowd got two huge surprises. Not only did Jane Lynch appear on stage in a floor-length blue ball gown to perform the parts she’d done via pre-taped video during previous tour stops, former Glee guest star, Gwyneth Paltrow, hopped on stage at one point dressed as her character, Holly Holiday, and belted Cee Lo Green’s Forget You.

Lynch sang alongside Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling. Paltrow came out when Naya Rivera was saying that the fans have spoken and she (Santana) is the sexiest girl in the glee club… at which point Gwyneth appeared on stage and was like… “Oh not so fast!”  And she busted into song wearing some knee high stiletto boots!

Glee Live! In Concert is sponsored by Samsung and AT&T.
