SPOTTED: The super talented young cast of Super 8 was at The Grove for an interview with Mario Lopez of Extra. The cast described the movie as sci-fi, comedy, romance, action, and suspense all packed into one sure to be blockbuster summer movie!

Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee, Riley Griffiths, Zach Mills, and Gabriel Basso play the lead roles in this JJ Abrams/Steven Spielberg collaboration.

I saw a screening of this movie and will write a review here soon, but what I will say for now is that I was so THOROUGHLY impressed with the acting of this young ensemble, especially new comer Joel Courtney, that I loved what would have otherwise been a so-so thriller. What sold this movie for me was the cast’s ability to completely draw me in to the story lines of the more innocent and simpler times of the late 1970’s (simpler at the beginning anyway). I was also surprisingly moved by the young love story between Courtney and Elle Fanning. Elle, Dakota’s younger sister, proved that talent runs deep in that family! And Joel proved that he can play lead, even a romantic one, when surrounded by an awesome cast.

Enjoy these pics – I am sure you will see more of these young and coming actors in other movies soon:

Chris Hemsworth Steals ‘Thor’ Role From Brother Liam (Red Carpet Photos)

Thor premieres this Friday, May 6, 2011 and its star, 27-year old, Australian-born Chris Hemsworth has been receiving rave reviews for his performance as the legendary Marvel Comics superhero.

Chris stole the role away from brother Liam Hemsworth. Well, not really steal, but the two were going for the same part. Liam had done a screen test for the director, Kenneth Branagh, but Branagh decided to test other actors later on. That’s when Chris tried out and got tips from Liam on what to do during his screen test. And the tips obviously worked. And don’t feel too bad for Liam. He just landed a role on The Hunger Games.
How did the relative-newcomer feel about his time on a major U.S. movie set? Chris told The Hollywood Reporter: “I thought there was going to be a lot of pressure and anxiety on the set of a big studio movie, but instead there was joy.”
Here is Hemsworth at the Red Carpet Premiere of Thor held May 2, 2011 at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, CA:

Mike Tyson’s Tattoo Artist Sues To Stop Release Of ‘The Hangover Part II’

The Hangover Part II is set for release May 25th – but not if Mike Tyson’s tattoo artist can help it. You know that tattoo on Mike Tyson’s face? Well it was designed by S. Victor Whitmill who filed an injunctive lawsuit in federal court in Missouri Thursday asking the court to stop Warner Bros. from releasing the film.

Now why in the world do you think he’d do that? The Hollywood Reporter restates court papers: “When Mr. Whitmill created the Original Tattoo, Mr. Tyson agreed that Mr. Whitmill would own the artwork and thus, the copyright in the Original Tattoo. Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. – without attempting to contact Mr. Whitmill, obtain his permission, or credit his creation – has copied Mr. Whitmill’s Original Tattoo and placed it on the face of another actor …This unauthorized exploitation of the Original Tattoo constitutes copyright infringement.”

A claim of copyright infringement is pretty serious stuff. In the movie, Ed Helms’ character wakes up after a night of hardcore partying with a tattoo similar to and in the same place as the one on the face of the famous ex-boxer. And since Tyson was in the first The Hangover, THR says the tat is probably a “direct comedic reference to Tyson.” Warner Bros. can always claim they changed the design just enough that it doesn’t exactly constitute infringement or that it’s done in parody. But proving either of that may be a tough hill to climb. My guess is they will dish out some dough to Whitmill just to keep things on track. I’ll keep you posted. But one way or another, I am sure the highly-anticipated The Hangover Part II will be ready for premiere as planned. At least I hope so.

    Video: ‘Hangover 2’ Trailer

There’s a whole new trailer for The Hangover Part II and you can watch it below!

This trailer is way better than the teaser trailer released by Warner Bros. in February –a teaser which did not provide much other than let us know there was a cute little monkey in the sequel.

Part II of The Hangover will follow the escapades of our beloved but clueless wolfpack fools in Thailand for Stu’s wedding. And yes, you guessed it, things don’t go too smoothly.

Here is the trailer starring Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha).

Amy Adams To Play Lois Lane In ‘Superman’ Reboot

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Academy Award Winner Amy Adams will play Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill who will play Superman in the Zack Snyder reboot of the film.

Snyder says in a statement: “Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane have already cast to play Mr. and Mrs. Kent, the adoptive parents of Superman.

Natalie Portman’s ‘Black Swan’ Dance Double: “Film Producers’ Attempt To Portray Natalie As A Dance Prodigy Is Demeaning To The Profession”

Natalie Portman had a dancing double for her Oscar-winning role in Black Swan and Entertainment Weekly reports a “cover up” claim by that double.

The ballerina who danced in place of Portman at various points in the movie tells the mag that Black Swan‘s producers are misleading the viewing public about how much dancing Portman herself did in the film.

That ballerina double is 27-year old American Ballet Theatre soloist, Sarah Lane, who says: “Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie. All the other shots are me.”

Lane performed many of the film’s complicated dance sequences and allowed Portman’s face to be digitally morphed with her body.

Benjamin Millepied, who holds the titles of Portman’s fiancé, soon-to-be baby daddy, and Black Swan choreographer (and co-star) came to Portman’s rescue by telling the L.A. Times Wednesday, “There are articles now talking about her dance double that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettés, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio…Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Natalie.”

Lane, who has pretty much stood by unknown during awards season (Natalie did not mention Lane during her Oscars acceptance speech and Lane is only listed as an extra in the film’s credits) also told EW that Black Swan producer Ari Handel wanted Lane to remain silent about her work on the film. Lane says: “They wanted to create this idea in people’s minds that Natalie was some kind of prodigy or so gifted in dance and really worked so hard to make herself a ballerina in a year and a half for the movie, basically because of the Oscar.”
Lane continues: “It is demeaning to the profession and not just to me. I’ve been doing this for 22 years…. Can you become a concert pianist in a year and a half, even if you’re a movie star?”

Lane may have been asked to keep quiet but Portman herself has previously admitted she used a dance double. She told EW last year: “I do have a double for the complicated turning stuff. It was not anything I ever could have done in a year, nothing I could’ve caught up with. But I think it was just better for all of us if I did as much as possible.”

All of this “I did, she didn’t” talk seems moot now since Portman already nabbed the Oscar for her work on Black Swan.

Justin Bieber Beats Michael Jackson As New Box Office King

Justin Bieber is a happy teen tonight. His Justin Bieber: Never Say Never film has now become the most successful concert-themed movie, surpassing Michael Jackson’s This Is It.

Never Say Never has earned $72.2 million at the domestic box ticket sales office through Sunday March 20. This Is It grossed $72.1 million domestically.

This Is It did much better worldwide, grossing $189.1 million overseas, totaling $261.2 million when added to US sales.

Never Say Never has only grossed $10.8 million at the international box office in comparison, but Paramount believes the movie could eventually earn $20 million internationally. Where has the movie done best overseas? Latin America, where Bieber has the strongest fan base.

How does Bieber feel about beating the great MJ in US sales? He Tweeted today:

“INSANE!! MJ is still the greatest and my hero but We are so proud of this and so grateful to the fans for making NEVER SAY NEVER 3D the highest grossing concert doc of ALL TIME!! THANK YOU!!! NEVER SAY NEVER!”

Book Dishes Out All New Juicy Details On Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone With The Wind”

All you die-hard fans of Gone With the Wind out there, YOU know who YOU are!  There’s a new book out this month which  offers a fun behind-the-scenes look at this Hollywood classic and I know you will love reading every page of it!

Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind: A Bestseller’s Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood covers everything from how Scarlett got her name – did you know that she was originally called Pansy? – to what happened to the millions and millions of dollars the movie has earned in the seven decades since its release.

Although CelebMagnet tends to focus on living celebrities, Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With the Wind earns this honorable mention because it dishes so much interesting scoop on Hollywood icons of yesteryear like Katharine Hepburn, Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, and Hattie McDaniel.

And, in keeping with the spirit of CelebMagnet, the authors sort through many of the rumors that have circulated about GWTW over the years, debunking many of them. I love a good debunked myth, I do.
Also explored is GWTW’s famous open ending and what author Margaret Mitchell thought happened to Scarlett and Rhett after he said he didn’t give a damn. I mean, seriously, did he really not give a damn?
If you’ve ever wondered whether Scarlett won him back, you now know where to find the answer.
Oh, and, one of the authors of the book is a good friend of mine, Ellen Firsching Brown. She’s a really really really cool writer. You will love reading every single page of this book. I know am 🙂
