If you give life and character to what becomes one iconic role in Hollywood, you can say you have made it in this tough Tinseltown. If you create two such roles, you are a superstar. But if you can claim three characters which resonate with fans for decades to come, then you can convincingly say that are a badass in Hollywood!
Shannen Doherty is that badass! Not only has she accomplished the rarity of making it from a child star to teen actor to adult star, she has also played three popular TV characters: Jenny Wilder on Little House on the Prairie, Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills 90210, and Prue Halliwell on Charmed.
As if all of those accomplishments were not enough, Shannen is now an accomplished author as well. Her book,
Badass: A Hard-Earned Guide to Living Life with Style and (the Right) Attitude deals with the fine line between being a bad girl and being a badass. And who would know better than Shannen Doherty? Along her rise to fame, Shannen has also been tied to harrowing tabloid headlines of dramatic teenage angst, historic temper tantrums, public meltdowns, DUIs, high profile marriages and messy break-ups.
Throughout all this turmoil, and probably because of it, Shannen has emerged a renewed woman on a mission. In her first book ever, she reveals her own evolution from bad girl to badass, sharing her secrets to happiness and success.
Badass is a straightforward, but exciting journey to finding your inner badass and living life with moxie and style. Shannen shares intimate personal stories, like how both her parents nearly died when she was very young, and how these events have made an impact on her life. She also offers tips for using newfound confidence in relationships, and gives advice on dating, friendships, and handling “frenemies.” And she has lots of fun, creative ideas for living life to the fullest, from entertaining and vacationing to decorating and shopping. Woven throughout her tips and advice for living the badass lifestyle are photos, providing an intimate look at Hollywood’s favorite female badass.
The actress has told
MailOnline that the book has been a long time in the making and that friends and family have always turned to her for advice on personal issues.
“My friends were constantly calling me for advice,” Shannen told MailOnline. “One was starting a business, a few had boyfriend issues. So I was ‘that girl.'”
“People would say, ‘Always listen to Shannen’s advice.’ But I didn’t always take my own advice. I do now.”
What are some of the tips Shannen gives in her book? Well, in short, she says don’t be a “bad girl” a “bitch,” a “shrinking violet” or a “people-pleaser”— be a “badass!” I guess you will have to read the book to know what that really means!
