Video: Casey Abrams May Look Like Zach Galifianakis, But His Voice Is “Unique”

Dude looks like a lady Zach Galifianakis.

Casey Abrams tried to clean up after the scare he gave little girls across America last week when he howled through his performance by sleeking to a smooth finish his crazy locks on Wednesday night’s American Idol. Yet somehow he unintentionally ended up looking like the famous comedian.

Abrams growled through yet somehow charmed us again in his rendition of Marvin Gaye’s I Heard It Through the Grapevine
After last week’s fearless but a bit screechy-sounding Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, Casey sounded more crisp this week and was much more in control of his voice.

“I think you’re the perfect entertainer,” Steven Tyler cheered on. “Perfect pitch and perfect mix of crazy-ass out-of-control ego and that’s what makes an artist today.” Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were in agreement with their fellow judge, calling Abrams very unique.

“Warmer, Brighter” American Idol Advances Record Number Of Hopefuls

The newer, kinder, softer American Idol leaves me weeping every night I watch the revamped show. And in case you were wondering, no, you’re not mistaken: Newcomers Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and old dawg Randy Jackson sent a record 300+ Idol hopefuls through to the second round in Hollywood.

That number is so astoundingly large for this stage in the contest that it would leave Simon Cowell rolling over in his grave if he were dead.

Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe admits that due to changed economic and social times since Idol‘s inception 10 years ago, Idol needed to put on a cheerier face this year. He told reporters on a conference call Thursday: “I believe these are times when we need to be warmer, brighter, and we need to think we have a future. If we can translate that into kids coming on this show from flipping burgers one day to ending up as the star of a television series, then we are showing everyone there is a way out of our lives.”

Lythgoe continued: “The judges this year have been particularly finicky and careful about giving people a second opportunity because they know everyone screws up with nerves.”

Some 22.8 million viewers tuned in to Wednesday’s episode, down from 24.1 million a week earlier, but the show is holding onto its status as the most-watched show on U.S. television.

“We have held up brilliantly considering we are in the 10th season and we have lost two stars in Paula [Abdul] and Simon. We are in a very good place,” Lythgoe said.

“American Idol” Apologizes For Steven Tyler’s “Outrageous” Behavior – Watch The Video

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

I know I am not alone when I say, “I l-o-v-e Steven Tyler as a judge on American Idol!”

Ya ya, he’s quirky. So what if he’s blatantly hitting on some of the female contestants? Yes, he uncontrollably breaks into song at any given moment. And, yep, I caught him scolding veteran judge, Randy Jackson and telling him not to tell contestants they sing badly when they really really do sound awful.

All that aside, and maybe because of all of that, he is still the breath of fresh air this show needed at its most desperate hour.

So, when Idol started its Austin, Texas auditions show Wednesday night with an “apology” for Steven Tyler’s “outrageous” behavior, I was like, huh? What for? Who complained? No one ever apologized for Simon Cowell!

Then, Idol rolled the video clip. And the joke was on us.

American Idol, you are back you wacky favorite show of mine!

American Idol Announces Judges For Season 10 [Video]

Did we really need a special press conference to announce what we all have known for weeks?

American Idol made this earth shattering, shocking expected announcement today: Golden Globe-nominated actress, platinum-selling recording artist, movie producer and entrepreneur Jennifer Lopez and multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Steven Tyler, the frontman of Aerosmith – the best-selling American rock band of all time – have joined Idol as judges. Lopez and Tyler will join returning Idol judge Randy Jackson for the 10th anniversary season, which premieres January 2011 on FOX.

The only news that Idol announced today which had not yet been leaked is that Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, co-founder of Beats Audio and one of the world’s most successful and prolific music producers, will join Idol an in-house mentor.

OK. Got it. Who loves/hates/doesn’t care about this new lineup?

Steven Tyler Falls Off Of Stage Again–This Time, Toronto [Video]

VIDEO CLIP OF THE DAY.

Why does this keep happening? Why does Steven Tyler keep falling off of the stage while performing?

I almost died laughing seeing Tyler getting hip-butted by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, and landing head-first into the crowd. It’s only funny to me because Tyler was OK, got right back on stage, yelled, “It ain’t gonna happen again, baby,” and kept rocking the crowd in Toronto.

But, Tyler can’t keep avoiding death this way. I hope American Idol hires him soon. THAT WAY, Tyler can still enjoy his time on stage, but instead of risking his life, he will just sit and avoid any more accidents or injuries.

See the video below for the latest fall.

Here is Tyler falling off of the stage last August in Sturgis, South Dakota, ironically during the same song (Love in an Elevator):

Kara DioGuardi Fired, DeGeneres Quit, JLo and Steven Tyler Hired?

American Idol is giving me whiplash. Season 10 auditions have already started despite the fact that we still don’t know who is coming back as a judge next year.
Ryan Seacrest has two years left on his contract as host and is the only one shown on videos of Season 10 auditions. But who in the world is doing the judging?
Out of the four judges from last year, we have this scenario as of today:
Simon Cowell left in May.
Ellen DeGeneres quit Thursday.
And now, TMZ reports that Kara DioGuardi has been fired.
TMZ and a few other sources who are all quoting The Insider report that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have both signed on as brand new judges on American Idol.
That would leave Randy Jackson who so far seems to have survived the judges’ panel shakeup that Fox had promised earlier this week.
I don’t know if the Kara, J Lo, Tyler rumors are true, but, someone please buy me a neck brace either way because I can’t take all of this jerking around. I tell you though, if J Lo and Steven Tyler in fact appear on the judging panel once all the rumor dust settles, I will be the first to crown Fox and Idol executives with the “Best Save” award of the decade for having raised the fast-sinking Titanic!

Brilliant moves.

But they kept Randy?
