PHOTOS: The Voice Standout Juliet Simms: “Cee Lo Green Spoke From His Soul”

SPOTTED: A blonde Juliet Simms at The Grove in Los Angeles, for an interview with Renee Bargh of Extra.

We last saw the 25-year old Juliet as a brunette auditioning for The Voice on NBC by giving a haunting raspy rendition of The Beatles’ Oh Darlin.

Speaking to reporters earlier this week after landing herself a spot on mentor Cee Lo Green’s team, Juliet said: “I’ve always been the one on the sidelines watching my friends’ bands getting huge or they would blow up. I remember playing shows with Katy Perry back at the Viper Room five or six years ago.” She continued, “I’ve always been the one on the sidelines and it was finally, ‘That’s it!’ I’m not taking this anymore! I saw this opportunity and seized it and it’s worked out in my favor.” Continue reading

Christina Aguilera On Weight Gain: “I Have A Boyfriend That Loves My Body.”

Christina Aguilera loves her body. Her boyfriend loves her body – so stop all the fat jokes and get over her recent weight gain.

The Voice judge took the stage Friday at NBC’s Television Critics Association Press Tour panel for the show with fellow judges/mentors Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

While promoting the show, the panel got on the topic of female empowerment and discussed the way Hollywood treats women.

“I’ve been in this [business] for a long time,” Aguilera chimed in. “I came out on the scene when I was 17 years old. You can never be too much of anything. You can never be too perfect, too thin, too curvy, too voluptuous, this, that. I’ve been on all sides of the spectrum as far as any female in this business at one time or another.” Continue reading

Adam Levine To MTV: “F YOU!”

WOW! Something tells me Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine does not like MTV.

Levine tweeted Saturday: “The VMAs. One day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I’m drawing a line in the sand. F*ck you, VMAs.”

The network obviously had to say something in response to the popular judge and mentor of The Voice, so, they took to Twitter as well and asked Levine: “Soooo you’ll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? (BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!).”

Adam responded at first by Tweeting, “Still waiting to have my ‘Jerry Maguire mission statement moment of deep regret.’ Not happening. Phew!” But after some cooling down, Levine also Tweeted, “I may be a pop singer. But every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. It’s a reflex.”  Well, guess he didn’t really cool down because he still stuck to his gun.

Adam Levine Slams American Idol For “Masking” Gay Contestants

The Voice judge and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine can’t stand some things about his competition American Idol and in an interview with gay magazine Out, Levine, who has a gay brother, slammed AI for making its contestants allegedly “mask” their sexuality.

“What’s always pissed me off about ‘Idol’ is wanting to mask that, for that to go unspoken,” he said. “C’mon. You can’t be publicly gay? At this point? On a singing competition? Give me a break. You can’t hide basic components of these people’s lives. The fact that ‘The Voice’ didn’t have any qualms about being completely about it is a great thing.”

The Voice
featured several gay contestants on the show whereas gay contestants on Idol had to wait until after the competition to come out with their sexuality. Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, for example, admitted he was forced by FOX to keep his sexuality under wraps while filming season 8.

“It was hard for me because I wasn’t able to talk,” Lambert said. “So I was sitting there, going, I can’t really put in my two cents. It felt out of control, and feeling out of control is scary.”

Levine said: “I can single-handedly dispel any ideas that sexuality is acquired. Trust me, you’re born with it. My brother is gay, and we knew when he was two. We all knew.”

Dia Frampton Interview, Life After The Voice

The Voice runner-up Dia Frampton seemed like the shyest person on the planet (next to Xenia, of course) but she claims that’s just not the case.

In an interview with TVLine, Frampton dishes about her on-screen shyness, her previous record label experience, and her original covers of Heartless and Losing My Religion.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:
On being signed on a record label as the sisterly duo Meg & Dia:
“Meg & Dia, we had our peak moment three or four years ago…But that was a long time ago. We first got signed to Doghouse Records when I was 18… And then we got signed to a major label with Warner/Sire, and that’s when I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, things are happening.’ We made a record with an amazing producer… and then it didn’t go anywhere. Our record came and went, we ended up getting dropped, and ever since then it’s been a really hard ride.”

On performing Heartless in the Quarterfinals and being compared to how Kris Allen covered the same song during Season 8 of American Idol:
“Honestly, I still don’t know who Kris Allen is. I haven’t watched Idol since Kelly Clarkson’s year, when I was a lot younger. [People] did tell me The Fray had done a cover, and Blake actually was the one who said, ‘Have you heard it? You could kind of go off of that.’

On appearing shy on TV:

“I’m not a really, really shy person. I think they made me out to be painfully shy on the show. But being on the show was a really new, extremely uncomfortable environment for me, where I never felt I had a confirmed space. I was always trying to prove myself. Don’t forget, I don’t think I’ve played without my sister Meg for almost a decade. Not having her literally right there next to me was such a weird thing…And here I am completely alone in this weird environment, meeting all these new and amazing singers — performing in front of Christina Aguilera — it’s not a place where I feel like I’m gonna completely burst out of my shell.”

On possible record deal with Universal Republic:

“I don’t really know. The second I got off the show I started writing, and I’m going to start playing with my sister again. I definitely want to go with the momentum, but I’m excited just to be playing and writing again.”
