Phillip Phillips Performs ‘Superstition’ On American Idol 3/5 [VIDEO]

Phillip Phillips did the impossible. After Jessica Sanchez blew our minds with her performance of Whitney Houston’s classic I Will Always Love You, Phillips more than held his own rocking out Dave Matthews style to Stevie Wonder’s Superstition.

Before Phillips took the stage, he blew away guest mentor Mary J. Blige and Jimmy Iovine in rehearsals. Iovine described Phillips as “that rare find of great musician and great singer,” adding that “he comes batteries included.” Continue reading

Oprah Winfrey Returns To TV

Seven months ago, Oprah Winfrey signed off from her daytime talk show and walked into the unknown sunset.

But now, Oprah says she is returning to TV yet again, this time, to host a primetime series on OWN titled, Oprah’s Next Chapter.

The new show will focus on her travels around the country and the world, visiting different celebrities. “After 25 years, I got myself out of the studio chairs,” Winfrey said in a statement. “I moved into the next chapter, and I am having more fun than ever – moving around the country and the world talking to people I’m really interested in getting to know and I think viewers will be, too. It is so energizing to be out and about in the world exploring new people, new places and new ideas.”

Oprah’s Next Chapter will premiere January 1 and feature an interview with Steven Tyler at his home in New Hampshire. Other slated guests include Paula Deen, George Lucas and Sean Penn.

Zooey Deschanel: “Part Of Me Is Totally Dorky & Weird”

Fox has a breakout hit on its hands: It’s new show, New Girl, was the network’s biggest premiere episode for a sitcom in 10 years!

One of the show’s stars, Zooey Deschanel, sat down with TV Guide to dish about her new gig.

Here are some excerpts:
On what she likes to do on the set
“Sometimes I’ll just sing at lunch for people.”

On the show’s enormous success: 
I’ve been around a long time and I know to not expect too much because you don’t want to get disappointed. We’re just so happy that people are watching it and sharing this moment with us.”

On her male costars: 

“I’ve always had a lot of guy friends and I like male energy. We have a good, playful rapport, all of us.”

On her character, Jess: 
“She’s really a 13-year-old version of myself. There’s still that part of myself that’s totally dorky and weird. There are a lot of people who work hard to be seen as different, but I always wanted to be normal and I never really felt like I was.”

‘In Living Color’ Heads Back To Fox With Two New Specials

Fox is reviving its 1990’s skit comedy, In Living Color.

Original creator and producer Keenen Ivory Wayans is set to produce and host two half-hour specials based on the series which helped launch the careers of his own family as well as those of Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier and others.

The renewal will be a contemporary take on the show and will star a new cast of comedians and feature guest musical performers. 
The first two episodes will air this spring and if the ratings are strong, Fox will order additional shows for next fall or mid-season.

Ashton Kutcher’s ‘Two and a Half Men’ Debut Sets Viewer Record – Even Charlie Watched!

Season 9 premiere of the hit CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men, now starring Ashton Kutcher and his debut as Walden Schmidt, brought in a record number of viewers!

A staggering 27.7 million viewers turned in to see how Charlie Harper, Charlie Sheen‘s character would die off and how Walden would appear.

And guess what? The ratings numbers almost doubled those of last year’s premiere, and were the highest in the show’s history.

The previous show record was for the May 2005 season finale which was 3.6 million less viewers.

Even Charlie was watching! And he threw a party while doing so. This is what he giddily Tweeted:
