Sadly, the American Idol dream has come to an end tonight (May 17) for one of my favorite contestants ever on the show, Joshua Ledet. Congratulations to Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips, one of whom will be crowned our American Idol next week.
Joshua gave three earth-moving performances on last night’s semifinals episode but that and his raw power vocals which never gave us anything less than an amazing experience were somehow not enough to send him into the finale next week. Watch Joshua’s semifinals performances here.

Joshua ran into The X Factor‘s finalist Rachel Crow last night after he performed the Etta James classic, I’d Rather Go Blind. Ironically, that was the last song Rachel performed on The X Factor before she too was eliminated. American needs to really listen and not judge by appearance when they vote. this man could blow….. because if we judge by appearance then every time Phillip Phillips sings a song he looks as though he is having a convulsion and, that is not cute at all. American Idol has definitely changed and not for the better. i will not be watching next year at all. just add me to the downward ratings that American Idol has started to receive as the show continues to plummet.

pissed off right now…so not fair!!!!!josh ledet has fully given everything in every performance week to week…he was never given any second chances or “saves” so to speak so what thanks does he get for putting in work every single week of the competition and of course keeping the american idol watchers entertained on the show…a farewell just before the finally…..they kept him long enough to boost their own ratings and then just let him go just like that…i am sooooo sorry josh that they screwed you like this but just look at jennifer hudson’s career and smile because joshua you are well on your way….its their loss not yours

Um is OP not disgusted at America…..You should call them out and tell them they should be ashamed…and get your ears and your hearts fixed cause they voted off the best besides joshua and jessica way to earlier just to keep Philip and Hollie? Their good in there own right and probably cool people but they weren’t kept around for their amazing singing abilities above the rest, they were kept around for looks and style; Where are we America? What happened to real values like judging a contest on the merits of what it stands for not some superficial junk. OP this is what you should have said. I said it. Believe me I don’t want to hear how I hate Philip and Hollie, because I don’t; Its the voters that have no class, none at all. Joshua killed it, I mean tore it up!! And let me tell you I really like Philip but the few that were voted off before him should be up there in the final four. Sorry but Hollie is tone deaf, decent singer sometimes but no where near the voice maturity as most of the final 8. We all should be upset; not over some gameshow but because this is truly the majority of our country today; superficial! Thats what truly hurts my heart… but I know, oh I know a lot of those guys are gonna have pretty darn good careers…esp Joshua and Skylar! Philip will do well too…he’s a good guitar player and performer and also that he will now be the 2012 American Idol? Yep… Jessica will lose, but shell do really really well. Philip will tip the scales cause young girls like him and guys that are too dumb to do anything else but be chauvinistic will vote for him too. OP this should have been your article. Yes I said it again, but to be honest, this is how the rest of the bunch feel.

I agree with everything that’s been said… Joshua gave us what we wanted every week! He not only can sing, he connects with the music and performs. He is and will be a great entertainer!! It’s a SET-UP and that’s why his numbers didn’t work… I’m done with American Idol after this season!!
I think the reason he was voted off is because he “thought” he would be the winner… And America wanted to “show” him otherwise. I agree that he is good at a certain kind of music… But u have to have an appreciation for that soul type of music. And personally I do not.. And apparently the majority of Americans do not either. He will have a recording contract regardless.. So no big loss. Skylar Laine should have prevailed above the rest this season.. She had it all… But she will get a contract as well. Now my vote is for Philip Phillips.. Sorry.
I have to dis agree with you on Philip Phillips, he’s pretty good writer musician but I agree with you on Joshua thing a bit too… He did think he was gonna win, but really only because of those damn judges….did anyone else notice how they were swaying the votes; that was really pissing me off. Esp Randy, he was really vibing with him cause he wanted him to be the winner. With the standing ovations. I saw once that Jlo didn’t want to stand but because the other two did she did as well. I got to say that stephen tyler is an ass too. These people get lost in there world and forget what its like to be an average every day type person who actually have survival struggles; maybe they did at one point but they certainly forget
I didn’t care for Joshua’s choice of Lennon, but he probably saw something inspirational in that song that he was sure to impress the audience with. He does have that kind of spine tingling voice that draws me in though. I was having a difficult time concentrating on making breakfast when I watched it Friday morning before going to work at Dish. I realized that I could watch commercial free with Auto Hop, using my PrimeTime Anytime recordings, cut 40 minutes or more, and still be able to get to work on time. That meant I could talk about the results at work rather than trying to avoid hearing who won.
