Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger announced their engagement earlier this week. And now, the love birds show off Avril’s 14-carat (yes, 14) engagement ring and dish on details of their relationship in Hello! Canada.

The 27-year old Lavigne and the 37-year-old Nickelback frontman Kroeger, met in February while working on Avril’s upcoming fifth album.

Chad reveals in the celebrity news magazine, “I knew I was falling for her [during recording sessions]..It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget.”

Lavigne, who was once married to Sum 41 singer and guitarist Deryck Whibley (2006-2010), says about her new fiance, “he makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive.”

The feeling is mutual. He says, “I feel like the luckiest person alive because I get to be with my best friend every day!”
