Obviously, and sadly, Lost is now behind us. Yes, the ending was absolutely poetic, moving and heartfelt. Beautifully and flawlessly acted by the best ensemble cast ever on TV. I loved it. I cried from the moment it started until the very end. And then some more. BUT, I also hated it. From mid way through, I knew exactly where they were going with the show, and did not want to see an ending like the one we saw. Sure, the ending was gut-wrenchingly moving in a way that only Lost can deliver. However, it left me wanting more. I wanted more for my beloved Losties. I needed more answers. Not so much answers to “why were women barren on the island,” but to newer questions such as, “where did Alpert go off the island?” Or, “what was the significance of the very last scene/which crash was that?” And, “why did we see the island under water in the first episode of season 6.”
I cannot accept a beautifully artistic ending in place of answers for all of the holes which were left unplugged, pun intended. But, in order to not go crazy, I will “let go” and move on…..So, goodbye Lost, goodbye; thank you for leading me on a wild goose chase for six years. I loved every minute of it, even though in the end, I yearned for much more. I will miss you Sawyer, Jack, Freckles, Hurley. ok…so I’ve slept on it and literally found myself fully immersed in dreaming about all this. I found a lot of parallels to Greek Mythology and occassionally Biblical lore in subtle hints here and there. At the end, the last thing that came to my mind was a verse from the Bible… not sure where.. and I’m paraphrasing…One must die to oneself to be born to eternal life. This sort of summed up the whole year experience for me on a higher level. On a lower level I still have oodles of questions and hope that somehow more answers become available. So sad its over. I don’t think there’s another show I was ever so grossly invested in. I’m gonna miss those characters fo’ sho!
It’s gonna take me a while to digest what happened tonight. But yes, the Biblical verse you quoted seems pretty apt. I already miss every single one of those characters – best cast ensemble ever. Ben was on the local news and even he said, “after watching the season finale, I now have to go watch the entire first season all over again”. Me too Ben, me too.
i’m so mad about the final ep only answering Qs from season 5 & 6. i can’t even talk about it.
I am sooo with you. EXACTLY 24 hours later, I am still sad at the gut-wrenching ending and fuming at the unanswered questions.
