Pamela Anderson PETA Ad Banned In Montreal

As a long-time spokesperson for PETAPamela Anderson flew to Montreal to unveil her newest vegetarian campaign ad for PETA at an official launch party.

But she ran into a little snag as city officials there denied a permit for the public event at the last minute, claiming Anderson’s bikini-clad ad is “sexist.”

Anderson, 43, looks amazing as ever and poses in a skimpy bikini with her body parts marked off in “rump,” “ribs,” “shoulder,” and “breast.” The ad states, “All Animals Have the Same Parts.”

Anderson released this statement through US Magazine in response to the situation:

“In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens. In some parts of the world, women are forced to cover their whole bodies with burqas — is that next? I didn’t think that Canada would be so puritanical.”

A Montreal official claims: “It is not so much controversial, as it goes against all principles public organisations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women.”

PETA Senior VP, Dan Matthews hits back: “I think that city officials are confusing ‘sexy’ with ‘sexist.’
All is not lost as the ad launch party will now be held in a private restaurant as opposed to a public venue.
My Two Cents Worth:  Like Pamela, I too am a vegetarian and a strong advocate for animal rights, but I also whole-heartedly believe in the equality between men and women. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with this ad – I mean seriously, she is wearing a bikini; she is not naked. I live in LA and that is normal attire for grocery shopping. And, could this ad work if she were wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt?  Perhaps–but this gets your attention and makes a valid visual point, all without stomping on women’s rights.

And PETA is pretty equal rights when it comes to nudity anyway. All their nude ads include men and women, so, what’s the problem?!  And Montreal, I really like you. I do, so don’t get mad. But if you really wanna help women’s rights, how ’bout you close down some of your gazillion titty bars; that would be a good start.

What do you all think?
