Chevy Chase of NBC’s Community recently stopped by the Grove to talk to Mario Lopez of Extra about life.
At one point Mario asked Chevy who his celebrity crush was. At first Chase joked, “Mr. Peepers!” Mr. Peepers is a 1950’s sitcom star – I had to look it up! And then Chevy got serious and changed his answer to “Goldie Hawn,” his co-star from Foul Play (1978) and Seems Like Old Times (1980). Cute!
Chevy’s wife was standing in the audience watching and Mario called her on to the stage to ask her what Chevy’s best quality is. She looked at Chevy and responded, “How funny you are!” Chevy, the funny man that he really is quickly retorted, “After all these years, that’s all you can say about me, that I am funny?”
It was also Chevy’s birthday, so the cast and crew of Extra got Chevy a cake and started to sing him “Happy Birthday.” Watch the video because it all would have gone so well had it not been for one obnoxious voice in the crowd. Needless to say, this birthday singing segment did not air!
