Lots of teenage girls walked right by Justin Timberlake at Comic-Con this past weekend–some even took pictures with him–and they didn’t even know it!
Why? Because the perennial prankster had dressed up incognito as Ernie from Sesame Street while cruising the hallways of the convention.
Timberlake was not alone. His partner in crime? Esquire writer Chris Jones, who accompanied him as Bert. Jones said the idea was all Timberlake’s, who thought that “Bert and Ernie made for better bonding” than Elmo and the Cookie Monster.
Under the Twitter handle MySecondEmpire, Jones tweeted:
“If you were at Comic-Con yesterday, and you took a picture with a sketchy Bert and Ernie… I was Bert. Justin Timberlake was Ernie.”
“I would pay good money to see the faces of the teenage girls who had no idea Justin Timberlake’s arm was wrapped around them.”
So, next time you take a pic with a costumed character, perhaps you should take a closer look under the hood – you never know who lies beneath.
