TLC no longer feels the love for its once flagship show, Kate Plus 8.
TLC announced Monday that it was cancelling this long-running reality show about Jon and Kate Gosselin’s 8 children which first began airing as Jon and Kate Plus 8 and later transformed into Kate Plus 8 when the couple divorced.
“TLC has decided not to renew another season of ‘Kate Plus 8’. By the end of this season Kate Plus 8 will have hit the 150 episode mark (including Jon & Kate Plus 8); an exceptional milestone. TLC hopes to check in with Kate and the family periodically with specials in the future.”
Kate Gosselin is OK with the news, taking to Twitter to say: “We’ve had a great run! Six years of whirlwind funfilled adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive & diehard fans!” Kate says the kids have not taken the news well: “There were many tears at the breakfast table this morning.”
She continues: “I am excited2consider many more invigorating opportunities that may come my way! … And remember, this is not ‘goodbye’.I prefer to say ‘See you around!’ Xoxo”
The series finale of Kate Plus 8 will air Sept. 12.
