Former NFL standout wide receiver, Terrell Owens, tells GQ that he is friendless and nearly broke. “I’m in hell,” Owens, 38, tells people who text him to ask him where he is.

Now out of the NFL after an injury that left him permanently sidelined in the league, he reveals that he has lost nearly $80 million of his career earnings — Gone due to a lavish lifestyle and financial shortcomings, including ventures gone bad and child support for his four children.

Owens says in the February issue of GQ that his financial advisers lured him into risky investments such as an Alabama entertainment complex that cost him $2 million and which he later found out was illegal in the state and violated NFL rules against gambling.

He also purchased lots of real estate in the hopes to rent them out but then the housing market tanked. If all that weren’t enough, Owens pays $44,600 a month in child support for his four children.
A distraught Owens blames the media for not giving him a chance to rehab his injury so he could stay in the league. He also places fault on agent Drew Rosenhaus for not protecting him from the bad business deal.

“I hate myself for letting this happen,” Owens tells GQ. “I believed that they had my back when they said, ‘You take care of the football, and we’ll do the rest.'”

“And in the end, they just basically stole from me.” He sadly concludes with, “I don’t have no friends. I don’t want no friends. That’s how I feel.”
