The Bachelor aired its After The Final Rose March 12, 2012.

Of course now we know that Ben picked Courtney Robertson and gave her the final rose. But are they still together? There have been rumors that the two split up since their engagement. More rumors circulated that Ben had an affair. Did Ben cheat on Courtney and dump her?

LIVE RECAP:
“I still love Courtney” is what Ben said to kick off the special. But he says he is surprised at what he saw as the episodes ran. Ben said he did listen to the warnings of the other women which is why he kept asking his family for help to figure out what Courtney is really like. He said when he asked the other women what bothered them about Courtney, they never gave him specific examples of what was “weird” about Courtney. So, he thought he himself is weird too, and further felt what’s wrong with being “weird.”

Ben said he was embarrassed by what was aired because America did not see what he saw in Courtney. He said he wished she had been more gracious with the other women so it would have been easier on him for having kept her around. Ben said, he has broken off his engagement with Courtney because of all of the negative energy. The live audience gasped.

Ben said there was a period of weeks after the show finished taping when he and Courtney did not talk because he needed space. As far as infidelity rumors go, Ben swore on his father’s grave that he has not kissed another woman since he proposed to Courtney. He vehemently denies kissing another girl in the pictures which clearly show him kissing someone. He says the girls he’s been spotted with are longtime friends and nothing more. He then accused Courtney of trying on wedding dresses to screw with people’s heads when the two were broken up. Chris Harrison says that Ben and Courtney are so weird that they belong together.

Ben leaves the hot seat and Courtney joins Chris amid cheers and some boos. She says this reaction was hard. She said the situation was hard and unnatural and the show brought out the worst in her. She said she was heartbroken when Ben broke off their engagement. She said they were happy for a month before the show aired. They spent Thanksgiving with her family. And the breakup came a week before Valentine’s Day. He didn’t send her a card even on VD. “He couldn’t even send carnations?” she asked.

Ben, she said, was initially supportive of her and then he abandoned her. She said there has been some trust that has been lost between the two and she’s always had trust issues to begin with so this is really hard on her. She said she tried to make things work but he would not respond to her. When Chris asked where things stand now, Courtney said, “We’re a couple. Yes, we’re together….I think.” Courtney says as she starts to tear up, “I am willing to try.”

Ben joins Courtney on stage, He kisses and hugs her. Chris asks Ben where they stand– Ben says, “In a good place, we’re engaged…and now that the show is over and the negativity is gone, it can only get better.” Chris asked Courtney if she can trust Ben and she said, “Not completely yet.”

The two said they are great communicators and they will grow from this. Ben told Courtney he will not abandon her again and apologized for not having stood by her side when the going got tough.

Ben and Courtney both get teary-eyed as they watch Ben’s proposal in Switzerland. Ben calls it a genuine and happy moment, marred by negativity since. Ben said there’s never been anything wrong between the two of them, it’s everything around them that have soiled that moment. Ben said he still feels the same for Courtney and in time he will remember how great that moment felt. Chris then whips out the engagement ring which is now in a box and the crowd gasped yet again. Chris asked Ben what he wants to do with the ring. “Are you engaged?” Chris asks. Ben says yes they are and puts the ring back on Courtney’s finger again.

Ben said he will marry Courtney but “who knows” when the wedding date is.

Ashley and JP join the stage and Ben and Courtney leave. Ashley says she can relate to what Courtney is going through because people called her ugly and all kinds of names and it helped her that JP stood by her side. JP said Ben is a good guy with a good head on his shoulder and that he believes the worst is behind Ben and Courtney.

The table is then turned on JP and Ashley. JP jokes that Ashley is pregnant. Ashley laughs and says it’s not true. She has finished dental school. Their one-year anniversary is coming up. Now that school is finished, they plan on their wedding which will happen in one year. Ashley even said they had picked up unique baby names but would not divulge what they are.
