NBC’s singing competition The Voice returns tonight March 19, 2012 with a brand new battles round episode. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have to continue to trim down their team which now have six singers each.
Which contestants battle it out tonight? Which contestants will be eliminated? Who will move ahead to the live shows?
Each coach has two mentors to help them ready their singers:
Team Christina: Jewel and Lionel Richie
Team Adam: Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke
Team Blake: Miranda Lambert (there is a real shocker)and Kelly Clarkson
Team Cee Lo: Ne-Yo and Babyface

LIVE BLOG/SHOW RECAP:TEAM ADAM (Round 1): Adam pits Pip and Nathan Parrett against each other to the tune of
You Know I am No Good by Amy Whinehouse. Alanis Morissette mentors Pip and thinks he has wonderful restraint. But she also thinks he needs to stop over thinking the song.
Nathan’s advisor is Robin Thicke who helps Nathan with his stage appearance. Nathan needs to grow in confidence as he is way too nervous.
During Battle night, Blake says Nathan has a strong voice but Pip can sing everything. Christina likes Pip because he has more stage presence but still liked Pip’s voice. Cee Lo said Nathan was the three c’s: cool, calm and comfortable.
Adam called Pip a real performer and picks him to advance. Nathan is eliminated.TEAM ADAM (Round 2):For the second round tonight, Adam pits Angel Taylor with Katrina Parker “on
Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis.
Robin Thicke helps Angel Taylor as her advisor and he tells her she needs to add passion and emotion to her performance.
Katrina meets with Alanis Morissette who tells her s e just needs to realize she is good and must be confident. After their Battle, Blake said Katrina flat out won this battle. Christina does not think the song fit Angel but found Katrina unreal. Cee Lo feels Angel had no confidence but that Kathrina was consistent. Adam wants to run out of here to not make a decision. He likes Angel’s uniqueness. Adam picks Katrina Parker and Angel Taylor is eliminated.
TEAM CEE LO: Cee Lo pairs up Erin Martin and The Shields Brothers Rory and Tristin on Tina Turner’s
What’s Love Got To Do With It.Babyface mentors The Shields Brothers and his main task at first is to calm them down. He thinks their harmonies are off and they sound a little like
Wayne’s World. Ne-Yo works with Erin Martin and
wants her to become more believable as a singer and not just depend on her looks.
During the battle round, Adam said the performance was weird and unique and maybe just too way out there. He felt uncomfortable with Erin’s attitude and felt The Shields Brothers were in their garage. Blake thanked Erin for wearing his outfit and said he would chose her. Christina had fun, thought it was artistic and loved it, calling Erin a hot mama. She would pick the brothers. Cee Lo thought it was wonderfully bizarre and brilliant and picked Erin as the winner. The Shields Brothers are eliminated.
TEAM CHRISTINA: Xtina pits Ashley De La Rose and Jonathas against each other on
No Air by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.Jonathas meets with his advisor, Lionel Richie and Ashley meets with Jewel who gives her advice to let herself shine.
Final rehearsal for Ashley and Jonathas and Christina is tough on them. Jonathas needs to stop mouthing the words while Ashley sings.
After Battle night, Cee Lo thought it was very good and said he would pick Ashley. Adam thought there was good chemistry between the two and he would pick Ashley too. Blake thought Jonathas had won hands down until Ashley really brought it through and he also would pick Ashley. Christina says Ashley has the chops but thought Jonathas could really sell records. Christina picks Ashley as the winner and Jonathas is eliminated.
TEAM BLAKE (Round 1): Blake picks Alyx and Jermaine Paul and has them perform Get Out Of My Dream And Into My Car by Billy Ocean.
Miranda Lambert meets with Alyx–she is not very confident and can’t relax. Jermaine meets with Kelly Clarkson whom he loves.
During Battle night, Jermaine gets a voicemail from his daughter telling him how proud she is. Christina loved Jermaine and said he brought energy. Cee Lo said he would pick Jermaine. Adam tells Jermaine that he kicked the song’s ass so he picks him as well. Blake says they both did well. Blake picks Jermaine and Alyx is eliminated.
TEAM BLAKE (Round 2): Blake picks Gwen Sebastian and Erin Willett to sing We Belong by Pat Benatar.
Gwen pairs with Miranda Lambert as her mentor and Miranda loves how Gwen is real and very thoughtful of the person she is battling. Erin gets Kelly Clarkson and Kelly thinks that Erin has to know how to have that “moment.”
Gwen gets a call from home that her dad is very ill and only has 24 hours to live. She tells Blake she will stay on the show regardless because her father wanted her to be there and she needs to do it.Battle night makes Christina say that they were both great but that she would pick Erin. Cee Lo likes Erins clear approach and thinks her voice is very unique. But, he would select Gwen.
Blake feels both ladies were unreal but picks Erin to win. Gwen is eliminated.
