Christina Aguilera shocked the world on Monday night’s (April 12) episode of The Voice when she eliminated the one singer off of her team that she had said she would fight for.
That singer who was instantly eliminated and sent home by his own coach was Jesse Campbell who had given a moving performance of Beyoncé’s Halo earlier, dedicated to his personal “saving grace,” his daughter.
Adam Levine said it best when he told Campbell he was a “huge favor for this thing.” But as reality TV would have it, there was a huge twist to The Voice tonight and that meant that Christina and fellow judge Blake Shelton had to eliminate one of the remaining four singers left on their individual teams instantly –without fan votes or iTunes downloads coming into play.
When Campbell first heard of the twist of “Instant Elimination,” he thought “the team was going to be broken up” faster than they had expected but he felt safe because his coach had promised to keep him around.
“She said that she would fight for me,” Campbell said of Aguilera but sadly added, “and she didn’t at this point.”
“She said she had to go with her gut, and whatever that gut decision was, I just choose to see it as ending this to begin that. And what ‘that’ is I don’t know yet.”

No idea what you guys are talking about with this “smug”, but I can guarantee he will be coming back on some other twist of the show. X-Factor did the same thing last season and the person who was let go wrongfully(intentional) to boost the ratings of the show and make it more surprising was brought back and eventually won the show. Jesse will be back and he will probably win.

I’m with Mr. Blake Shelton wanting to kick whomever made the exec. decision to have the coaches do more eliminations! Why give the public the voting power, then take it back after that part of the elimination process via the coaches WAS over. Low Blow on the producers part of changing the show like that. I have a feeling the two who were eliminated tonight would NOT have been had the voting been left to the public. On a happier note Maroon 5 rocked their new song…Loved it!!
Christina is nutz…Getting rid of Jesse? He was her sure bet to win..I am a TeamBlake fan, but I was rooting for Jesse he was awesome…She is an idiot and by getting rid of Jesse she proved she has no place on that stage…

Yeah i see your point but this show is not called “The Proformance” it is called “The Voice” and to me that mean that they should be searching for the best voice. This is not about a persons attitude at all, it is not about who they think will be able to make it in the industry because they have the right look. There are a lot of singers out in the industry now that can not sing and use sexy and staging to get their show across. I remember when true singers would just be on the stage sitting in a chair and would just blow your mind away with their voice. That is how i saw this show until last night.
I think that either the judges should never see the artist until their part of choosing the talent is all over and the rest of the show is left up to the fans. Or that artist whould heard and not seen by the judges and the audience until the semi finals. This is because site of someone only bring bias, as we wittnessed last nite.

Completely agree. If Jesse would have Picked Adam or Cee Lo, he would have stayed around to the finals and most likely won the whole damn thing. I think its fucked up she did this after such a moving performance dedicated to his daughter and was better the the rest of her team. On a comical note the “what the fuck are you thinking” look adam gave after she choose to send Jesse Packing was Priceless.
Very very simple Christina needs to GO! She is obviously the weakest coach there and makes HORRIBLE decisions constantly. WTF is Chris Mann still there? He should have been the one instantly eliminated last night not Jesse. On another not can we Please PLEASE get rid of Rea Lynn from TeamBlake. A) she doesn’t have a good voice B) she is a horrible on stage C) Jordis was way fucking better. This show has way to much personal bias. The only coach I haven’t really noticed it from is adam (Cee Lo keeping Erin Martin around as long as he did, Blake keeping Rea Lynn, and Xtina sending Jesse Home). The voice is quickly become the reason I stoped watching Idol and X-Factor. FML I need a new Monday night show!
Yeah, Jesse was by far the best on Christina’s team. I guess she’s throwing in the towel because she sure did seal her fate to lose with sending Jesse home. And Blake Shelton like those young girls(his wife Miranda better keep an eye out)why else does he keep RaeLynn he has to know she won’t win this! She does NOT have “The Voice”!!!
Jesse is the greatest technical singer on the show this year. His range is limitless, his control is precise, his tone is absolutely beautiful. He is the voice and the only person on Christina’s team who had a chance to win it. Xtina needs to go, none of the great technical singers are going to want to be on her team next year.
I totally enjoyed Jesse’s performance he was amazing!!!!! I concur, no one will ever choose Christina as their coach because she is insecure and trite. How can you eliminate the best vocalist without a valid reason. Your gut, really????? Jesse forget about Christina,,,,, keep that chapter closed… If your looking for guidance check out Ceelo! im thinking from the end of the episode until now and i cant find out why she eliminate this guy . when he sing at the blind auditions i thought that this guy should win this season . he deserve it . he got a wonderful voice , good character . someone said a good word about this situation . he said how you fill a cup when its full ? i agree . BUT you shouldnt throw a sweet part of your cup away and hold the bitter part . i think jesse campbell was the sweet part .

This isn’t about SMUG. This isn’t about OVERCONFIDENT. Hello? She wore a LEOTARD last night that gave her a monster wedgie and is obviously 2-3 sizes too small. THAT’S overconfident. This show is called THE VOICE and not THE GUT. She is as dumb as a box of rocks and she can FORGET ANY technical singers picking her after this season. FORGET. IT. And newsflash: the PUBLIC HAS SPOKEN. They didn’t take too well with the judges throwing out singers for their “faves” and THAT’S why they DIDN’T vote for Lindsay. They DIDN’T vote for Ashley. So, all in all, Christina should feel like an IDIOT because she threw away her BONAFIDE singer for the Ghost Whisperer (Lindsay) and the Latina I-Carly (Ashley). She’s an IDIOT who tried to fake sympathy and FEELINGS after throwing him under the bus for LINDSAY?? What–ever. Nobody’s buying it. Every time they screened into her face, I just shot her the finger. I said a colossal “EFF YOU” all night. Crying over Lindsay? GTFOH! She might as well hang it up. She will get NOTHING but sloppy FOURTHS and maybe thirds from every singer from here on out. Trashy ditz!
On another feed someone said that Jesse wanted to get off the show so he could make his record since someone was ready to sign him. I hope the Voice comes clean about this because even though I did not like what happened I still love Christina, and if she did that because Jesse wanted her to then America needs to know. She is sacrificing her image and reputation, but again, I do not know if she chose Jesse because he needed an out or because she is stupid. I hope she wasn’t stupid because I want to continue to love her.

If he has a record contract in the works, it makes perfect sense! It’s a win, win for everyone. He gets out of The Voice and doesn’t get roped into a restrictive contract that he would have been awarded if he won. The show gets a ton of publicity from this “controversial” move. After all… Christina herself said “[she is] no stranger to controversy.” And… He has another underdog story for the release of his album. I was homeless. They eliminated me from the voice, but look at me now…!!

First, I should commend X TINA for giving us that duet earlier. That was and still is the highlight of the season. My last if I don’t get some real answers really really fast. Tic….Toc…. I quickly came to the only digestible conclusion that Jesse needed out. (Why so fast, I don’t know). Someone said earlier that it would beneficial to leave now, to avoid contractual shenanigans. I’m running with that one, because anything else makes 0 sense. On another note, she brought those kids in and put on a hooker costume….wth?
Jesse chose his fate by picking hoochina probably because he was lured by her overgrown knockers. So when you really think about it there really two coaches, one hoochie mama and pervert. Jess just happened to pick the hooch. On the bright side he didnt pick the perv. In his first audition didnt Blake say something like I realized I was the only perv who didn’t press his button… To future contestants if you epwant to win pick team Adam. Christina a coach?? Really?? I, personally, will not vote for anyone on her team because this feels like a publicity play, not a true judgement of talent. Adam actually earned his win last year & this move from her does not warrent the title of mentor. I’m not sure what she’s doing but I do know that coaching/picking the strongest member of her team, is not in her game plan. The sympathany card for being the only female judge just will NOT play against crappy decisions! Go Jesse! Myself & my entire family are looking forward to your 1st CD! To Jesse’s Daughter…that overly inflated-bleached blonde isn’t worth your time. I have a teenaged daughter who knows there are much better role-models out there than THAT female. Please keep believing in your Dad & his talent. He is the kind of man that you kids should be looking up to, not these used-to-be humans that are so full of silicone, bleach & other fillers that people would not recognize them if they ever saw them in their natural state. Christina was bias from the start. She is keeping her Mickey Mouse friend, hoping he will win it all. I am so done with Christina for voting off Jesse Campbell. I love every judge on there, but I despise Christina. The voice has been eliminated from my television. When you let go people with true talent before people who clearly needs to go, I’m done wasting my time giving you ratings. Christina you are a loser!
Best of luck to you Jesse. Christina’s team will lose again this year, she is more interested in praising herself and how much “soul” she has……can you say annoying? I bet she thinks she is the best mother in the world as well – probably sings it to her kids the 30 minutes a week she spends with them.

There’s no doubt at all that it was a mean personal decision on Christina part to vote Jesse off. Watch the tape again and watch her body language and demeaner when she’s making her decision. Kinda thinking maybe had a little rejection scorn going on!!!!! She’s already showed how petty and jealous she can be running her mouth constantly. That’s one of the dumbest moves I have ever seen or witnessed. I told my wife when Jesse chose Christina that it was a big mistake. And she showed with the pairing between Jesse and Anthony Evans right off of bat. That was her first mistake. And I think she may have forgotten the premise of the show. You have to have the best voice to win. It is not a beauty contest nor is it a popularity contest. It has to be about the talent. Take your ego out of the equation. That’s why I stopped watching American Idol for 4 years until this season when the true talents are allowed to perform and compete.
Christina’s ego and insecurities are well known. She has to be the center of attention.
Then came her rationalization that the other contestants showed more growth. Really? If the high point is 10 and you are already at 9, how much farther do you have to grow versus someone that’s at 5 or 6? She did not rationalize that. I don’t know how much of an education she received but the statement spoke volumes about her decisional acumen. Sorry to say that because I really like Christina. I am very disappointed to say the least.
