Jessica Sanchez had another hair-raising performance (two actually) on the Queen-inspired episode of American Idol April 25, 2012. For her first song, Jessica nailed Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Steven Tyler told Sanchez that “Freddie Mercury would have been proud to hear that.”
Jennifer Lopez said Jessica sounded beautiful singing but she wanted to see the 16-year old run around the stage especially since she was clad in sneakers. Randy Jackson loved it especially because Jessica did something different than she usually does. She had no runs in her melody.

For her second song, Sanchez performed Dance with My Father Again by Luther Vandross. Jessica dedicated the song to her father who will soon be deployed to the Philippines and he has been deployed to Iraq before. JLo was blown away by Jessica’s performance. She said, “Luther Vandross is one of my favorite singers. Ever. Of all time. And that may be the best we have ever heard that song sang. And we have heard a lot of people sing that song. …The tenderness, the feeling, your vocal ability…it was the most beautiful I have ever heard it.”
Randy said, “You are truly amazing to me. You are so natural…And now you have the feeling in there.” Steven was also impressed saying Jessica’s voice is different that anyone else’s. “It kind of touches on Whitney, but I think you have your own thing going on…And to watch you evolve…it’s been a joy, pleasure and honor for me…so, thank you.”
