America’s Next Top Model aired its season finale tonight, May 30, 2012.
In a season which was themed “British Invasion” and featured American models competing against themselves and British contestants. The two finalists went head to head in TV commercials for CoverGirl and a runway show featuring holograms. It was down to the final two, Laura and Sophie. Team US vs Team UK.
SO, who was named America’s Next Top Model?
RESULTS: Sophie wins America’s Next Top Model! Laura is the runner-up. A win for the UK!

The two finalists did a shoot for CoverGirl Color Blast, shot by Jez Smith.Sophie nailed the script but Laura was much more self conscious and nervous–to the point of shaking and getting blurred vision. She is rushed to the hospital for observation! It may have simply been a panic attack induced by all the pressure but everyone noted the incident, implying that maybe Laura wasn’t quite ready for prime time.
They girls then did a photo shoot is for Vogue Italia and both did really well. Next up was a catwalk. The models were told about the holographic show and Ebony, Alisha, Annaliese and Catherine were there to help them.
Laura is up first and looks nervous. Sophie looked very calm on the other hand. This was the first time in ANTM’s history that a live holographic runway show was done.
Tyra said the winner will receive a fashion spread at Vogue Italia, a guest correspondent placement gig with Extra TV, a modeling contract with LA Models and NY Model Management, become the face of the America’s Next Top Model perfume product “Dream Come True” and a music single by CBS records. And if all that weren’t enough, the winner would also get a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics.FOR LAURA – Kelly liked it. Nigel says Laura’s cover girl commercial was one of the sexiest they have ever done.
FOR SOPHIE – Nigel says her ads were very elegant. Jay saw confidence in her. Nigel said tSophie had a great voice on her Cover Girl ad. Jay says everything is just so cute.
