Apick Youssefian is one of the pioneers in theater, film and television industry in pre-revolution Iran. Her career started at a very young age with the Jaffari Theater Group, followed by starring roles for the Oskoui Theater Group. She earned recognition as Best Actress two years in a row by the Iranian national press.
Throughout her sixty-year career, Apick started in 9 feature films and numerous TV and stage productions, including Amir, Arsalan, Ali Noghli, Sarkar Ostavar and Octopus. She was also the first woman making feature films and producing TV shows in Iran. She was so loved and popular in fact, that she was elected as Mayor of her hometown.
In the US, Apick continued her acting career in such films as Keeper and The Legend of Omar Khayyam. Most recently, Apick returned to theater in the critically-acclaimed play Beneath the Veil, written and produced by her daughter, Mary Apick.
