The Avengers combines four separate blockbusters and that power combination helped it blow out the box office in record-setting fashion!
The superhero flick opened this weekend to a record-breaking $200.3 million. In case you were wondering, yes, that is the biggest opening weekend of all time in North American history, crushing the previous record of $169.2 million set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
And that’s not all. Worldwide, The Avengersraked in $641.8 million over the weekend.
Coming in at a far second was Think Like A Man which brought in another $8 million. The Hunger Games with $5.7 million came in third. The Lucky One was fourth with $5.5 million and The Pirates! Band of Misfits rounded up the top five with $5.4 million.
