ABC airs a brand new episode of The Bachelorotte with Emily Maynard tonight May 28, 2012.
On tonight’s episode, the drama continues with Kalon when he tells Emily all about himself and ends up looking bad. Kalon tells the single mom: “I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life … it’s not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid.”
When Maynard asks Kalon about his own mother who raised him as a single parent, he immediately cuts her off.

The episode starts with Emily having breakfast in bed. She is speaking with her mother. There are only 16 men left and Chris gets the first one on one date of the week.
ONE ON ONE DATE WITH CHRIS
Emily and Chris go to see Luke Bryan, one of Chris’ favorite country singers. Emily says Chris has been near the top of her list from the start and she is happy to go out with him. The two go for an evening stroll in downtown Charlotte. And then they are told in order to have dinner, they have to scale the side of a building. They start the climb and Emily gets scared and cry a bit. Chris is trying to cheer her into continuing. Once they reach the top, he wants to kiss her, but is not sure if it’s the right time yet.
They then have dinner on the rooftop and start to compliment each other. It’s obvious that there is mutual attraction at play here. Chris wants to reassure Em that his age of 25 is not too young for marriage. Chris tells Em that he had a long-term relationship with his high-school sweetheart. After a while, Chris asks for permission to kiss Emily and she dares him to try and see the reaction he’ll get. Guess she liked the kiss because Chris got the date rose.
OTHER MEN
Back at the house, Tony is talking to his son on the telephone and starting to wonder about the sacrifice of leaving his son behind to find love with Emily.
GROUP DATE
On this week’s group date, the men will meet Emily’s four best and most protective friends. Emily tells her friends to ask whatever they feel of the men and that no question should be off limit. Tony gets a long well with the mothers because he is already a dad himself. Doug does well too. The friends grill John because he has cheated in a relationship before. They do seem to like Sean–they also think he is good looking.
After the Q&A, the men have to hang out with some kids in a park and they mostly seem to be having fun. Ryan actually told Emily if Emily gained weight, he would love her, but not “love on her”.
The group then goes to Butter for dinner and Emily looks forward to spending time with Sean and Doug. Sean admits he has not dated in a year and wants what his parents have which is love. He tells Emily that her friends remind him of his friends’ wives, so, he is comfortable with them. Doug then talks to Emily and tells Em of his hard past. His mom left when he was very young and he and his siblings were in and out of foster homes. Tony is really more focused on his son than on Emily. He really misses his son and is questioning whether he should be there. Tony thanks Emily for the day she tells him that it’s harder for him than it is for his son and at the end it could really be worth it.
ONE ON ONE DATE WITH ARIE
After a private jet ride to Pigeon Forge, Tennesse, Emily and Ari’s date takes place at Dollywood–the happiest place on earth as far as Emily is concerned. She doesn’t “do” rollercoasters but Arie gets her to ride on one with him. They then go on the stage and start to write a love song. All of the sudden, Dolly Parton shows up and Emily is stunned. “I could die,” Emily says over and over and over again. Dolly and Emily get some girl talk and Dolly says she’s been married for 47 years and that true love happens. Dolly sings them a song and thinks there’s something special between this couple.
Emily opens up to Arie about Brad Womack, her fiance. She says Brad was not ready to be a husband and father. Arie of course says he is ready and could see himself proposing to her. He gets a date rose and they kiss. Emily says she hopes she does not mess things with Arie because guys like that are hard to find, confessing that he reminds her of Ricki’s dad.
ROSE CEREMONY
Before the rose ceremony starts, Emily takes Kalon aside for a chat. He says he is disappointed that he did not get a date this week and says, “I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life … it’s not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid.” When Em asks him asks him about his own mother who raised him as a single parent, he immediately cuts her off. “I love it when you talk, but I wish you’d let me finish,” he snaps. Emily holds her own and snaps back, “I love tall, skinny and funny, but I don’t love tall, skinny and condescending!”
