Hollie Cavanagh woke up Thursday morning and “just kind of knew” that she may be the one eliminated off of American Idollater that day.
As her exit interview, Cavanagh told reporters: “Honestly, if you’d asked me a couple of weeks ago I would’ve been upset and in tears, but you can’t really complain when you are at the top four.” Cavanagh added, “There were so many people previously in the competition that would have died to have been in this spot, so I am proud of myself at this point.”
Cavanagh handled her elimination with grace, hugging each remaining contestant and shaking hands with the judges as she sang her final song. On the other hand, her friend Joshua Ledet was a mess as Hollie sang her farewell.
“I don’t know why the boy was crying, I’ll get to see him in like two days!” Hollie said, laughing. I think Joshua was sweet and genuine in his feelings. Cavanagh said she has “no idea” who among the remaining Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez or Phillip Phillips will win the Idol crown.
“They said how proud they were of me and how far I had come. Now I’m just looking to the future and seeing what the future brings.” Hollie ended by saying, “I don’t want to look down as I have no regrets – I saw myself grow through the whole process and I’m proud of myself. I don’t take anything back.”
I’m proud of you too Hollie. You did awesome. And I loved your rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me.
