The Avengers will reach $600 million at the domestic box office today, becoming only the third movie to ever reach this milestone.
The Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and friends action-packed flick opened May 4 and has dominated the summer movie season ever since.
The Avengers is also the second-fastest to the $600 million mark, behind Avatar which reached the mark in 47 days. Titanic reached the milestone in 252 days; then again, ticket prices were a lot cheaper when Titanic was released.
At $600 million, The Avengers now sits in third place on the list of Hollywood’s all-time domestic winners (see list below).
Worldwide, The Avengers is now the third-biggest grossing film of all-time, bringing in more than $1.44 billion.
