CBS lost the battle against ABC airing a knock off of its Big Brotherfranchise when ABC got a court ruling in its favor to show The Glass House. But it seems as if CBS has a few cards of its own up its sleeve on how to separate itself from the imitation.

CBS announced today that the new and 14th season of Big Brother which is set to premiere Thursday, July 12 will have a first-ever series twist.

For the first time in Big Brother history, four of the franchise’s most successful players will once again enter the Big Brother house –this time, to play his/her own game for his/her own separate prize. We will not know who the four former contestants will be until the season premiere.

“Four epic players – including fan favorites and winners – are coming in with their own agenda,” teases executive producer Allison Grodner. “It’s a game within a game, if you will.”

In addition to the four former contestants, CBS revealed its cast of 12 other hopefuls who will enter the house playing the old-fashioned Big Brother way: competing for the $500,000 grand prize.

Following the premiere on July 12, Big Brother will air three nights a week starting Sunday, July 15, hosted by the lovable host of The Talk, Julie Chen.
