The Dawg is no more at “American Idol“. Per TMZ, Randy Jackson, the last-standing sitting original judge of the Fox show, is leaving his role from behind the panel and will from now on serve as mentor to the contestants.
If that sounds odd to you and if Jackson does not strike you as the mentor type, it’s because sources say they could not get rid of Jackson all together–they see him as the cohesion which keeps Idol together.
TMZ also reports that the Nicki Minaj’s deal is 99% complete, despite the fact that the only confirmed judge for next season, Mariah Carey does not care for Minaj. Looks like Idol is going for the clash factor here for ratings.
