To say that LeAnn Rimes has been on a roller coaster ride for the past few days is an epic understatement. The singer started the week celebrating her 30th birthday, but, it was all downhill from there. She entered a 30-day inpatient treatment facility the very next day to deal with “stress and anxiety” issues. The day after that, LeAnn filed a lawsuit against two women who allegedly “secretly” recorded one of her telephone conversations and who distributed excerpts of it to “hate blogs”.
About entering treatment, LeAnn says she has become a victim of severe online bullying and is trying to turn the tables on her haters. “There has been this cyber-bullying that has been going on for a considerable period of time,” her lawyer Larry Stein told Celebuzz. “Apparently, most of this started when LeAnn started dating Eddie Cibrian,” he explained. “These women [fans of Eddie’s ex wife] have been merciless … vitriolic in their attacks.” He added, “They don’t understand who [LeAnn] is or what she stands for.”
About the treatment, LeAnn’s rep told People: “While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms.” LeAnn herself explains that she will be taking care of herself and coming back “in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman [she] can be.” LeAnn added, “All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”
Rimes states the posting has “harmed her reputation and personal relationships and have caused her emotional distress.”
Rimes has asked the court for an injunction to stop the further dissemination of the tape, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.
