Vanessa Bryant is fighting allegations that she is a gold digger based on recent comments she made about her LA Lakers husband, Kobe Braynt.
This is how it all started. Vanessa told the New York Magazine, “I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can’t win championships.” She explained, “If you’re sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.”
After a backlash against Vanessa, she now says she was misquoted and we’ve got it all wrong. Mrs. Bryant took to TMZ to reiterate her love and support for Kobe. “I’m sad to hear that some of the comments in my New York Magazine interview are being misconstrued and taken out of context.”
“I have been with Kobe for 13 years. I accepted his marriage proposal PRIOR to him winning any of his 5 championships with his teammates.” She continued, “I have and will continue to support my husband’s dreams. For anyone to think otherwise is wrong. It is not about being married to a ‘winner.'”
“It is about our sacrifice as a family.”
Vanessa and Kobe met when she was just 17 years old. The love birds got engaged just two months before Kobe won his first championship in 2000. The duo announced their separation in December 2011, but, they are working on a reconciliation now.
