The internet is abuzz with an old photo which is making rounds on Twitter decades after it was shot. Why? Because the photo came with the caption, “here is a photo of brooke shields smoking pot with h.r.”

WOAH! Don’t make a judgment so fast! Brooke’s rep was qiuck to counter that the woman seen smoking from a pipe in the old scanned photo is not his client.

In the photo in question which is seen here, we do see a woman who bears somewhat a resemblance to Shields sitting next to lead singer H.R. of seminal hardcore band Bad Brains. And yes, the woman is smoking from a pipe. But there are contradicting stories as to whom the woman is or is not.

Bad Brains’ manager told Gawker, “It’s [Brooke]. This would be from 1983. Hair length, and H.R. missing that tooth he knocked out hitting a huge stage divider pole at the Reggae Lounge. Brooke would have been around 18, maybe still a Ford model.”

But Shield’s rep is adamant that the woman is not his client. He told E! News, “That is definitely NOT her.”

Daily Mail even reports that Shields told Nylon magazine in 2000 that she was turned off by drugs by her mother’s use of reverse psychology on her. Shield is quoted as saying some 12 years ago: “I don’t know if it’s reverse psychology, but my mom would say, ‘You wanna do drugs? Fine. Do them. Just do me a favor. Let me do ’em with you. I’ll get you the best stuff. This way I know you’re not going to die.’ And the whole thing was so unappealing to me.”
