Britney Spears and Simon Cowell appeared on The Tonight Show Monday night for an interview with Jay Leno. The power duo judges were there to promote The X Factor live shows which kick off November 1.

Britney has been in the news for other reasons of late after her cover photo on the latest issue of Lucky magazine raised more than a few eyebrows. In the photo (see below/after the jump) Britney looks like she has undergone some major face-altering Photoshop changes. She also sports an extremely low hairline and appears to be wearing a wig. The reaction to the photo by Brit’s fans was so overwhelmingly bad that the magazine actually took to Twitter apologize.

“Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on our cover! As always, we will share with our team and we’re sorry to have let some of you down.”

Now back to her gig as an X Factor judge. Britney told the mag that her two sons, Preston and Jayden James, think that she is a ‘superhero’ when they see her on TV judging the starry-eyed music hopefuls. “The boys try to figure out where I go when I go film ‘X Factor’. They’re like, ‘Mommy’s going off to be a superhero!'” said the 30-year-old singer.
