Beatlemania lives on! This week, OVOW Productions Inc. announced that they have been authorized by The Beatle’s Apple Corps to start work on the feature film, “The Beatles Live!” The film has commissioned global research teams and developed social media tools to collaborate with fans, concertgoers, collectors, archivists, writers, academics, and film restoration experts across the globe.
The project is described as a “collaborative global quest” to unearth previously unseen Beatles footage and images related to live performances by the band during the height of their success- from October 1963-August 1966. During this time, the Beatles preformed 250 concerts in 116 cities and 118 countries.
This project provides an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans to collaborate with The Beatles on the planned film. The project’s ultimate goal is to “combine footage, images, music, interviews and stories in a definitive, emotional and visceral feature film.” Fans are invited to comb through their personal archives and submit contributions of stories and digital material of the “Fab Four.” Submissions will be accepted through December 2012. The best media and stories will be showcased in the movie. Fans can upload digital content directly to the movie’s website (www.beatlesliveproject.com). In addition, written submissions, such as personal stories and accounts of concerts will also be accepted via the website.
Even though the band’s final concert together was in 1966, Beatlemania is alive and well. This week, original artwork from the band’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album sold for $87,720 at a Sotheby’s auction.
