It was a reunion 30 years in the making but it finally happened today on the Ellen DeGeneres show when a classic big-screen couple from Grease, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, showed up to talk about the iconic film and to plug their new charity holiday album, ‘This Christmas’.
As for theChristmas album, John explained, “For the record, we did it over three months, and then of course, we had these gorgeous guest stars — Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, Tony Bennett, Cliff Richard, Chick Corea and Kenny G.” Travolta added, “All the proceeds go to our charities and they knew that, so once we told them that, I think it even was more impetus to help us.”
Travolta is raising funds for the Jett Travolta Foundation, in honor of his late son who died after suffering a seizure. Newton-John is doing this for her eponymous Cancer and Wellness Foundation. Speaking about the aims of his charity, Travolta said, “Autism and seizures are the least known areas of illnesses. And I feel bad that there’s so many people dealing with this and there are no answers for.” John continued, “So, I felt like starting a foundation that will help that. Plus, I widened it. It’s also for handicapped children and the handicapped Olympics. It’s also for underprivileged children. So I widened my purpose a bit there, too.”
