The Real Housewives of Atlanta aired its fifth episode of season 8 tonight, December 23, 2012. Here is a full recap of “Fools off Engagement”: It’s the morning after Kenya and Porsha’s epic blowout and Kenya comes down for breakfast and apologizes to everyone for her behavior the previous evening, NeNe sums up the apology stating “she (Kenya) didn’t really mean the apology and she (Porsha) didn’t really accept it.”
It’s the last day on the island and Kenya is still hoping Walter will propose. She does not see her overly friendly behavior with all of the men on the trip as an issue, “Walter is secure; when he sees me being flirtatious he knows I only have eyes for him.” Wow, Walter must really be in love or maybe he is so secure because he isn’t really dating her? My guess is the latter, since Walter recently admitted during an interview that their relationship was a showmance for the Bravo cameras.

The ladies and their husbands all head to the beach for some lunch and horseback riding. For once, NeNe is not involved in the drama but instead is on the beach horseback riding with Greg. She hints at a possible reconciliation with her ex-husband, “we are divorced and dating… it’s fun who knows we may get married again.”
Further down the beach, things aren’t quite peaceful. Kenya decides to revisit her previous drama with Cynthia. Kenya presents Cynthia with an autographed copy of Vanessa Williams’ book, “You have No Idea.” Cynthia takes offense at the title (she thinks Kenya is not so subtlety insinuating that she is clueless), but Kenya insists she gave her the book because previously Cynthia asked her if she won her Miss USA title prior to Vanessa Williams winning Miss America. Kenya is appalled and feels that she is “a part of history” since she is the SECOND (I thought it was only historical when you were the first…) African American woman to win the Miss USA title (she goes so far as to compare herself to Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Martin Luther King) and Cynthia should know history. Cynthia takes the book and says that she loves to read and considers the gift a compliment. Kenya retorts, “It’s not a compliment that you’re ignorant.” Cynthia concludes that the gesture is much like Kenya herself “mean spirited and inappropriate.”
While at dinner, all of the women are discussing how their husbands proposed to them. Kenya brings up a conversation she had with Walter about getting married. Walter makes it clear that he has no plans to marry her in the near future and will not be pressured into proposing. Kenya does not the way Walter is speaking to her and storms off-no twirling this time. Maybe Kenya should follow NeNe’s advice, “the best way to get a ring is with a closed mouth.”
Next- The women are back in Atlanta and Phaedra and Apollo’s marriage seems to be thin ice. Kenya and Porsha have yet another heated confrontation.
Last night’s episode was hilarious, I don’t think I have ever heard a more insincere apology than what Kenya tried to give the morning after the fight. I couldn’t believe how hard Kenya was trying to prove she was someone. If you are someone, you shouldn’t have to work so hard to prove it. I was glad to see Kenya and Walter come to terms with the proposal. She should stop pushing him. This episode gave me and my DISH coworker a lot to talk about today at work. I’m glad I recorded it on my DISH Hopper. This DVR can record and store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment. I never have to worry about running out of room.
