Beyonce fans may be a bit surprised to hear the singer’s perfect performance of the Star Spangled Banner at the 2013 Inauguration was lip-synced!
Reports allege that Beyonce mouthed the words to a pre-recorded studio version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Apparently the decision was made by Bey last minute to rely on the studio version instead of singing it live.
The New York Post reportedly spoke to a representative for the United States Marine Band who backed Beyonce yesterday. The rep said that while the band performed the song live, Beyonce decided to use a pre-recorded track at the last minute:
“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois, a rep for the band tells Page Six. “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why.”
