Lance Armstrong who once defiantly said “As long as I live, I will deny ever doping,” appeared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her show Oprah’s Next Chapter and admitted that he did in fact use banned substances to enhance his cycling performances.
Armstrong admitted that he used a cocktail of drugs, including testosterone, cortisone, human growth hormone and the blood booster EPO to enhance his performance.
Surprisingly, the 41-year-old athlete also admitted that he used the substances during all seven of his Tour de France wins and said he would not have won without such use of banned substances.
Wow.
“I will spend the rest of my life trying to earn back trust and apologize to people,” Armstrong said, adding, “There will be people who hear this and never forgive me. I understand that.”
