World, meet your girl! “Girl Meets World,” the highly anticipated spin-off of the classic 90s television sitcom “Boy Meets World” has found its girl! A rep from the Disney Channel confirmed that 11-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard won the coveted role of Cory and Topanga’s daughter.

On Tuesday, series star Ben Savage also confirmed the news by tweeting “I have a beautiful, new daughter. Welcome to the family @rowblanchard!”

Original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga with Blanchard portraying the couple’s 11 year old daughter Riley. Michael Jacobs, producer of both the original and the pilot for the reboot told Entertainment Weekly, “As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews. Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”

Previously, Blanchard has appeared in films such as “Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D” and “The Back-Up Plan.”

Aside from Savage and Fishel none of the original cast members have signed on for the series (Mr. Feeny, we’re looking at you). Rider Strong, who played Cory’s loveable, troublesome best friend, Shawn Hunter in the original series, hinted that it is unlikely he will return as part of the new cast. Last year, he said “I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World,” he wrote on his website. “There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’s own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters. It’s the next generation. And I, for one, can’t
wait to see it evolve.”

“Girl Meets World” is currently slated for Disney Channel’s 2013-14 schedule and production on the pilot episode is set to begin next month.

Rumor has it the Boy Meets World reboot has sparked interest in a “Saved By the Bell” reunion/spinoff, according to “Zack Morris” himself, Mark-Paul Gosselaar. Fingers crossed on this one, but please leave Screech out of it!
