If you think that our nation’s economic woes have only affected the common everyday middle-class driver, think again.

There are plenty of celebrities who were either being frugal, sensible, or falling from grace when they chose the rides that they were seen in.

DriverSide.com highlighted John Goodman, Larry David and David Spade as a few of the more shocking examples of used-car-driving celebrities. It’s hard to imagine supermodel and movie star Kate Moss driving a 1966 MG Midget MK III. While it’s lacking in the modern accouterments that one might expect in a celebrity’s car, it does make up for that in its speed which is a plus for a free spirit like Kate.

It’s likely that a few of the celebrities might have even purchased their used car at a buy here pay here car lot, which was probably an interesting experience for the dealer. What do you do if a celebrity is late on his monthly lease payments?

Conan O’Brien

The biggest surprise on the top 10 list was probably Conan O’Brien, who could afford to purchase a new car and crash it once a week if he chose to. Instead, the comedian and former “Late Night Show” host has revealed to several media sources that the car he drives around in California is a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO. The hilarious antics of O’Brien manifests itself into even the car he drives as he takes an interviewer from “60 minutes” on a drive through Los Angeles in his dirty green four-door.

LiLo’s Crashing Party

Lindsey Lohan didn’t make it on the top 10 list for Driverside.com. That is likely because she’s been permitted to crash rented Porsche’s, but in 2009 she was driving around in a fairly sensible and compact Mercedes SL 550, according to Jalopnik.com. This four-door sedan was not fashionable, but at least LiLo got it as a trade-in and had it on the road for a fair amount of time before she took up her hobby of crashing luxury cars that she was borrowing.

Harry Potter is a Sensible Driver

To prove that not all drivers are reckless and irresponsible when it comes to their car purchases, Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the Harry Potter movie franchise, purchased a 2007 Fiat Grande Punto, according to Driverside. This three-door car is great on gas and is one of the most eco-friendly cars in Britain. It’s a sensible car for sure, but Danny boy, couldn’t you have gotten something a little more fun?

If anything, now you know that celebrities are people too, who are affected by the economy and difficult times we’re in. These celebs sometimes chose to drive an affordable, sensible car, and save their money for more meaningful purchases. On the other hand, If you miss being green with envy or want to dream the impossible dream, there are plenty of stars who purchase ridiculously expensive wheels that sit in their garage and only come out to be shown off. I’ll take the Fiat over the Porsche though, any day.
