Kristen Wiig has signed on to join the cast of the Anchorman sequel. “Kristen Wiig
is officially on board for Anchorman 2. Couldn’t be more excited,” wrote director/co-screenwriter Adam McKay on his Facebook page.

Original Anchorman star, Christina Applegate chimed in on Twitter, “So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for anchorman2. Going 2 b best movie ever made. Besides the best movies ever made.”

Anchorman: The Legend Continues is the follow up to 2004’s hugely successful comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Will Ferrell stars as bumbling 1970s newsman, Ron Burgundy.

Wigg joins an already star studded cast featuring Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate,
Paul Rudd and Steve Carell. The sequel has been in the works for some time now, the film’s star, Will Ferrell appeared on Conan Obrien’s talk show last spring wearing Ron Burgundy’s signature leisure suit and mustache and announced plans for the sequel.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues begins filming this month and is slated hit theatres December 20.
